How many people missed the playoffs by sitting Westbrook this week? (1 Viewer)

I had the following options and the matchups clearly favored Peterson and C Johnson

Westbrook vs Gmen

C Johnson vs Browns

Peterson vs Lions

Westbrook ends up scoring 41 points in my league and would have got me the win... but he is on my bench... scored 2nd most points in league by a huge margin and miss the playoffs - unreal

ok feel better had to get that off my chest

Its not awful luck when you bench your 1st rnd pick it is stupidity. People over think their lineups. I saw a Andre Johnson WDIS thead on here yesterday :goodposting: .

that blows, but i can't sit here and tell you that i would have started Westbrook if I had those options against those crappy Ds

While Westbrook scoring 41pts is exceptional, the other two didn't have terrible days. You should have got at least 20 from CJ3 and 10 from ADP. Can't complain really. I think it was the rest of your team that lost you the matchup.

 If you sat WBrook on your Bench & lost - you can now refer to this FF season as, "2008 - The year I learned my lesson the hard way."

Hindsight is 20/20. Did you guys see his other options? I know Westbrook can be All-World in some games, but considering he was just 13/26/0 & 3/33/0 in the first meeting in Philly, it's silly to act like he should have known better before knowing the results.

Would you care to tell us your league size and how you got all of those running backs on your team? I can see either westy/peterson AND johnson but how did you get both top 5 backs?

I don't know anyone else who sat Westbrook. You were blessed at RB and now feel the pain.

I did sit Sproles, but that was a bit more common I'd imagine.

It was probably very easy to come out of the draft with Peterson and Johnson and aqcuire Westbrook at some time during the year. Westbrook's value was at an all time low for multiple weeks this season dur to injuries and poor performances.

Can't fault the OP for sitting Westy with the matchups CJ and ADP had. I would say less than .00000000001% of all owners in greater than 8 team redraft leagues had a similar problem. There were a lot of people questioning Westbrook and sat him for much lesser options. When Westbrook is healthy and hot, he is impossible to sit. I have Thomas/Bush going against Detroit week 16. Much better matchup than Westy. But after this week, I won't go down with him out of my lineup the rest of the way. It's why I drafted him in the first round. Time to reap the dividends - when it counts.

I sat him in favor of Forte and T. Jones and luckily still won. Its hard to judge in a situation like that. I think he started the right backs.

Good luck in your 2008 "Hindsight League" championship game. You can't lose. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Benching your less than 100% 1st round RB who has been 1) sub-par, 2) not played due to injury, or 3) not finished a game due to injury for 8 of the last 10 games is not supidity...especially when he's going up against the Giants and has Andy Reid at the helm. In the past 10 games, Westbrook has had good games against Atlanta and Arizona. He struggled against the Bengals! And he only got 59 combined yards with no TD's against the Giants a few weeks ago. Starting Westbrook over the past two months has probably knocked some guys out of the playoffs. I backed into the playoffs by luck and Westy's performances against Seattle, New York (first game) and Cincy were big contributors.

Comparing WDIS concerns for A.Johnson to WDIS concerns for B.Westbrook goes beyond not being in the same ballpark, they aren't even the same ####### sport.

:lmao: People who are coming in here claiming that they would start BW given the OP's choice are talking out of their ###.Tough break to the OP. That said, it is pretty amazing that you even had a chance to choose between BW, ADP, and CJ3.

I have to always remind myself about this GOLDEN RULE in FF: Always Start Your Studs!

Unless he's ruled out, I will always try to remember to start the guys I drafted early. I mean, think about it: you gear up for your draft, hope to get a good spot to pick from, find out that you actually might have a shot at getting someone like Westbrook, and actually TAKE him with your pick, remembering how satisfied you felt at the time because you know the quality of your pick can set you up to win your league!

Then, when it matters the most - when it REALLY counts - when you have to have a WIN or go home, what do you do?

You sit him!

My advice? If you have a shot at him in the draft next year, don't bother taking him because you won't play him when it matters anyway...

You just joined today and you are offering this crap up once a topic has been pretty much put to rest? Horrible!Obviously this guy is going to play ADP against the Lions. Basically this thread boils down to benching Westy against the NYG versus starting Chris Johnson at home against the Browns. So you are saying that if I told you ahead of time that Johnson would have 166 combined yards and a TD against the Browns, then you would still start Westy against the NYG? Again ... hindsight is 20/20. These people posting this crap are to be laughed at. Nobody believes you and to come off all cavalier like Westy this year fits the definition of a can't miss stud. Again ... nice to make this post with week 14 in the rearview mirror.

Why does it matter when he signed up? When you post dumb threads like this, expect people to give their hindsighted opinions.

It doesn't matter. I just mentioned it since he was so over the top in his post and seemingly signed up just to post his ground breaking thoughts when they were very hindsighted and probably not at all what he would have done had he had the same options for his team. I agree that this thread is pretty stupid, though, and it should have just been included in the venting thread.

Way to welcome the newcomers give him a head start on his FBG tool list.

Anyone with a brain would have done the same thing, despite what some are telling you.Sometimes bad luck trumps brains.
