How many years does Randy Moss have left? (1 Viewer)

Every year in the many years of my dynasty league it seems that someone hangs onto a player just a little too long -- right past the point where their skills go over the cliff and the player is worthless. The most recent example is Marvin Harrison. Before that, Priest Holmes.

Obviously WRs have a longer shelf life than RBs, but even guys like Jerry Rice, Harrison, and others who seem like they will never collapse ultimately do. The shark move for teams already feeling out of contention is to trade these guys away to contending teams at peak value (e.g., Moss after a 3TD performance) and plan ahead for next year. But for those of us looking to acquire the extra firepower in our lineup for a playoff run, how many more years do you think a guy like Moss has in him? What about T.O.?

Moss is 32 and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down yet. I think he should have at least two more highly productive years left. Receivers still are productive at 34 and Moss has superior skills to most WRs.T.O has -1.5 years left of production. He doesn't even hold much value for this year.

I think Moss will be very productive through 2011 and possibly through 2013. A lot of great WRs fall off rapidly at 35-36, though. Acquire him with confidence imo.

Based on the game film it doesn't even look like its started. He's still burning defenders.

I was about to ask this same question, but in reverse. I'm trying to trade away Moss.I put Randy on the block in my start 2QB dynasty, and the *best* offer has been Warner/AGonzo (!!!).When I declined, the reply to my decline was:

Moss is showing signs of age and if you eliminate his show in week 6, he is only slightly better than average fantasywise. It is a good idea to try and trade him now before he has too many more 6 and 7 point weeks.Good Luck.

Are people smoking crack? Is this a common perception of Moss?When I watch (what I can get) of the Pats' games, its been Brady who's been the issue with his screwed up mechanics, consistently missing his target, not Moss' inability to get away from coverage. They knew this so heading into Wk6 practiced nothing but the long ball and look at the results. Look at Peyton for the first six weeks of last year coming back from his knee injury...Moss is still burning defenders and even if he does drop off in speed a little bit, the huge talent differential will still make him elite, imo.I would think that at nearly 33 yrs of age (he's 32.6 right now), he has at least 2-3 more years of high-end production, but I guess I'm mistaken on this line of thinking?Hopefully SSOG and FnL will hop in here with their opinions...

But I can win with Calvin now and plug the hole instead of giving him up until he's healthy.

Tough to turn down a WR like Moss though, he's heatin up.

A lot depends if he stays with NE or not. IIRC, Moss is signed through next season. Then the labor issues could hit so who knows what would happen. I'd bet Moss could still stay productive for several more years playing with Brady, Belichick, et al in NE. Ship him to Cleveland, probably not so much.

I pedaled TO at this point last season. If you are out of it in Dynasty Id move Rmoss, and his value will probably go up after the smashing of TB

Dynasty players often discount older WRs waay too early in the name of future possible studs while ignoring the needs of the current year. In my book, you could look at any of 30 young/backup WRs that could be studs or could be Charles Rogers. On a 16 man team in a league of 12 owners, I'll try to keep just 2 but the cost is vulnerability to RB injuries (need backups) and taking advantage of good weekly matchups.

For me, I just picked up 2 D/STs (Colts/Cards) that will carry me thru the Super Bowl (week 16) and have to give up one of my futures (either CHenry, MoMass, Schilens - haven't decided yet - gonna hold on to Percy and Crabcake).

I think the idea I'm trying to get across is: "Win Today. Playing the lottery for tomorrow is exciting but just plain bad math"

RE: your trade offer....I doubt if the guy actually believes that or else he wouldn't make an offer for him. He's just hoping YOU will believe that.

I am having the same thought, but about Donald Driver. I have the chance to pick him up in a dynasty league for Reggie Bush. Not a big Bush believer, but it is PPR and that gives him more value. He is my 3rd RB, though and I could use the depth of Driver in my WR corps.
