Pfft. Who maxes out anymore? That's for college kids.

In all seriousness, I think people should be able to bench their own weight. I think this is a decent standard.

I maxed out at 315 when I was 23-24 and working out religiously.

My shoulder feels like it's going to fall off if I do chest with a bar now. I use dumblells and don't go over 75s.

I haven't benched in a few years since the big pecs look went out of style. Now I do overhead press and pullups and then focus on abs, legs, and back for the long, lean look. You don't want to be walking around all puffed up, bro.

Also, eat clean and you can be lean and mean too. You can tell that the dudes at the gym are kind of physically ill on the inside - the ones who just do heavy bench press and then go home and drink beer and eat sausages. You can see it in their faces something's not right.

To me, how much you can bench is overrated. I always sucked at the bench press because I have long arms, so I have a longer path to the top of my rep. I always liked the incline press better.

About 20 years ago, I could bench 300, weighing about 190 lbs. Now I don't go super heavy anymore since I hurt my shoulder. I use the Hammer strength machines for chest and never go for less than 10 reps a set.

I probably can still do 5 reps with 185 on the incline press, so I would suspect my max bench would be around 230-240. I weigh about 215, so at age 45 being able to bench more than my weight is pretty good.

I strength train three times per week, but haven't benched in probably at least five years. I think there are much more effective exercises to spend your time and energy on.

I don't do flat bench anymore. But 350 would be for 12+ reps, pretty sure of that.

Last time I did any flatbenching was during last years NFL combine (with local University players) and did 225 for 33 reps.

Tuesday I ramped up Hammer-Smith Incline to 460 lbs for 8 reps. Followed immediately by 190 lbs for 30 reps (exhaust).

Lots of schtick going on in the voting, right? I work out like crazy I refuse to believe that I'm only in the 70th percentile among a bunch of old ### FBGs.

People still bench press? Everyone's using kettle bells, TRX and resistance bands at my gym. I'm there 4 times a week and don't recall the last time I've seen someone doing the bench press.

I love when Chain comments in the FFA general threads.

:lmao: :lmao:

You can't be upset about the draft considering how Boston fared. It's not even fair to be upset when there's so much to gloat about.

So you're saying you're just...

----takes off sunglasses meme thing---

... avoiding injuries?

Don't forget hot yoga, big boy!

No idea but in a somewhat recent "pump and run" that is a 5k where you get a head start based on points earned benching, I did 195 pounds 10 reps.

Haven't maxed in a while. I will just guess 250 rather than actually trying and having a stroke or blowing out a few joints.

Benching is kinda stupid though. I only did pushups leading up to that day, with maybe 2 days of a few reps of bench just to get a feel. I will probably do the same thing next year for the same race.

Very overrated workout.
