How much $ do you have invested in this FF Season? (1 Viewer)

My biggest investment in FF ever is with this season.

10 leagues

1 x $50

3 x $100

2 x $200

2 x $350

2 x $1500

---------------------

10 lgs, $4450

This doesn't even count $55 for online subscription services or any other associated indirect costs..

Am i crazy?

How much have you invested this year in Fantasy Football?

Are you crazy?

I guess it depends on how much of that money you get back.

I would never do more than maybe 3 leagues during a season.

I would think 10 leagues would be like having a second full time job.

I dropped $8 for my dynasty league fees and $29 for my FBG subscription.

That's $37 on my only hobby. Yet my wife still complains about it.

Less than you. Serious question, how are you doing in those leagues, specifically the 1500 dollar ones.10 leagues is a lot, I used to be in a lot like that (never 1500, never even 1000) and I found myself burned out and spread a bit then. I found my trading, my add/drops weren't as sharp as it was when I was in say 3 or 4 leagues.

How is it rooting for essentially the entire National Football League?
Haha...not quite, as i've used a lot of duplication with key players (Orton, Hillis, Charles, Mk Williams, etc)...Also, it's really cool to have atleast one player going in every Mon Nite game this year...even if it is a K, D, or TE

Too many leagues kills the joy, IMO.
Agreed. Being a dynasty guy, I miss the thrill of the start up draft. But when you have too many, it becomes work. I also hate needing Player A to score 10 points to win in one league, while also needing him to score under 10 to win in another. I like having "my guys" as corny as that sounds.

It is alot. It is a 2nd job. Prob spend another 20 hrs a week in addition to my 45 hr /wk job. Good news is, i dont' work in an office so i don't get caught online reading updates, putting in for FA , etc.To answer your question. I missed the playoffs in the first 1500 league by 20 pts. Am in the Finals (this weekend ) in the other one, winner gets $5500 and moves on to a Champions pool which takes place wk 14-16 and highest pt earner wins 300 k !!Similar deal with one of my 350 leagues. Final game is this weekend, winner gets $1650 and chance to move on to play for 100kFortunately for me , i'm not married. So if i want to spend 20 hrs a week on my passion, there's nobody to stop me. And yeah, i'm drained completely by Week 16, so that's why i won't play Fantasy Baseball

In the big money leauges, are trades a lot less frequent? I would assume they are. I would be too scared to make a big trade.

Exactly. It ruins it.One of my "guys" was Gore and now I must deal with it, but, you reap what you sow.IF I was in another $100+ league with him, I would've whooped the wife, sold the kids, and probably break something. But, I am lower class, live in a studio, and don't make FBG $. But, that's just me.  ;)

I have a similar situation as some others here. I layout the $29 subscription, and play in 2 redrafts of $50 each year. I join some free leagues and abandom them as there is no point playing if no one else is playing. It's kind of a more realistic mock draft. So $129/year, not including a pick'em pool at work that $3/week. Anything more and the wife complains so much it's not fun to do anymore. Plus I like having "my guys". It's like Christmas when you find out who your guys will be for the year in redraft.

I could see if you were single, or didn't have 3 kids and pets...just not enough time for 10 leagues, but more power to you!

looks like I'm "That Guy"

$50 x 10

$75 x 3

$100 x 6

$200 x 4

23 total

I know plenty of guys that play in more than I do currently in the playoffs in 17 of the 23

this is the shark pool....right

Usually $1200 - 1500 a year, probably on the low side of that this year. Didn't enter any of the high end games because I couldn't make the drafts due to being on my honeymoon.

drop her and pick a new one up off the waiver wire
Those kind of waiver moves are like tens of thousands of dollars in my league. :no:I think I'll just have to hope she turns it around in the latter part of the season.

Started dynasty leagues 3 years ago....invested $175 into two leagues(one 100, one 75).

The profits from that lead to more leagues, then those profits more.

Currently:

1 redraft($50)

11 Dynasty: 7 X $50, 1 X $75, 3 X $100.

Yeah you're in one of those keeper leagues. She must have long term value. I'm in a redraft.

I did two leagues this time for the first time ever, and I might cut back down to one next season. I can't imagine 10, FWIW. I do a local league for $75 and a Phenoms league for $50. Both are a lot of fun, doing well in both, but it's still a lot of work to just do two leagues with a job and all.

Just out of curiosity, what is your "real" job? How old are you and do you have time/interest to date or socialize? Thats a huge investment in money and time for you. I play in 2 leagues ($125 total) and that still feels like a lot at times (given my other my priorities).

my first year in about 5 that Im only doing one league (my main league that I commish). Have a six week old daughter that wins most of my attention. I'd say with fees, this site, etc. around $300.

If I factor in my billable rate on hours spent researching, posting here: many, many thousands.

1 x $200 (redraft) ~ 6-7 and need a week 13 win and some help to make playoffs

1 x $100 (keeper) ~ 8-4 and leading Division by 1 game with 2 to go

1 x $125 (redraft) ~ 9-3 with 1 game lead but falling apart (injuries to Nicks, Zach Miller, V.Jax, Best and now Gore  )

1 x $75 (redraft) ~ 9-3 and made 16 team "Super Playoff spot with $2350 first prize

1 x $50 (dynasty) ~ 10-2 and tied for Division lead, play that owner and another division leader in a week 13 DH

1 x $0 (dynasty) ~ 5-7 and on 2 game win streak, can make like the NFC West and make the playoffs with a W next week and another's loss

Been a good year so far....and still alive in Suscribers Contest ;)

$550 :pickle:

One 16 Team Keep 1 League ($250 + $10 per FA Pickup) -- Clinched 2nd (Finished 2nd last year)

One 10 Team Redraft Office League ($50) -- Tied for 1st Place

One 10 Team Redraft Friends/Family Leauge ($0) -- 4th Place (don't spend much time on this one)

I went from 3 leagues to 8 this year. It doesn't really take that much more time as you are taking the time do your research anyway no matter how many teams you have. I set most of the leagues up as no trade leagues this this cuts down down on time commitment also. My only problem is Tuesday wavier claims. I dread putting it in for 8 teams and put if off all day. I couldnt imagine having to put in claims for 23 teams. What site do you play on? Is there a quick way to check for available players. Say if you wanted to pick up Toby Gerhart, do you have to search each league to see if he is available or have you found a way to streamline it?If it wasnt for the waiver/free agent issue, I would be looking to bump my team count up even more next year.

I don't get why peolpe think its that much more work to do multiple leagues. You already have the research you need. You just line em up and go through them, don't usually spend more than a minute or 2 on each. The good thing is, you never have a loosing weekend, because you're bound to win at least one league. Althoguh I probably wouldn't be in so many, if I didn't like drafting so much.

I'm in 13, all different kinds for about $800 btw

$500 total, 2 leagues

$350 14 team ppr redraft

$150 16 team ppr redraft

Making the playoffs in both most likly. I will add a dynasty and another redraft next year.

I'm in 5 leagues and invested about $600 total. I'm in great shape in one league, really good shape in two other leagues. Clinched a playoff spot in another, but fading very fast thanks to Nicks being done among other things and in the other league I really suck.

To the OP, can you afford it and are you having fun? If yes to both then good on you.

I have spent about the same as you and I love it. Most years I get a fair return on my entertainment investment.

10 is nuts. I own 2 and i try to draft the same players because I don't want to have scenario's where my guy need X amount for me to win but if he gets more than X i lose in the other league, etc etc

I just did 2 leagues, $100 total. I won both already (11-1, 10-2, just waiting for week 15 and the semi's to roll around) but I still plan on just staying in 1 league, my keeper for next year.

And to the 37$ wife complaining bit, my younger cousin (I'm 23, he's 16) needed 1 person for his basketball league. It was 15 freakin dollars and when my girlfriend found out she went NUTS.

its nice to know some people have so much disposable income they can spend over $1000 on a pretend game

im only in my second year of fantasy football, but i might look into joining a small money keeper league next year, maybe $10-$20

I think i put 5 bucks into my league about 7 years ago to help with the cost of a trophy. At the time we had expanded to about 18 teams and have contracted down to 12 since. Maybe I even through in the extra 5 for my than fiance(now wife whom still plays) too. Out commish updates and maintains the league website on his own so we don't have to pay espn, mfl, or any of those sights and we can set our own scoring system precisely. I don't even pay for magazines anymore.

7 leagues

4 Dynasty leagues

1 x 50

3 x ~ 100 (I forget the exact amounts, MOX all the same amt)

3 Redraft

1 x 60

1 x 140

1 x 260

Total ~ $800.

Also play in 4 to 5 baseball leagues (3 dynasty).

Host sites are MFL and CBS, so pretty standardized. I don't see that much extra work for playing 2 to 3 leagues vs. 7. I have told myself that I should shed some of the dynasty teams but I haven't had to pay an entry fee in several years as I've been a "net winner" so I find it hard to pull the plug. 2 of the 3 redraft leagues have a live auction draft which I really enjoy the "draft dynamics" and I don't get that elsewhere with the other 5 leagues.

I expect to be in the playoffs in 6 of 7 of these leagues. Also won 2 of my baseball leagues and a runner up finish so I took net money out of baseball.

My Big Rules:

I NEVER pay attention as to what players my opponents have in their lineups until at least the Sunday night games. That way I do not cloud my routing interest with "conflicts". I'm a JETS season ticket holder so I go live games 1/2 the time and really like to enjoy Sunday Ticket for the "off-Sundays" and just root for my own players.

That said, I think ~ 5 leagues is the ideal number for me but again the dynasty leagues have become more of an annuity.

I just dumped mine yesterday , she will be on the waiver wire...
I just put in a claim for her...expecting at least 2 scores this week! :lmao:
I was looking at her and yeah you might get a couple of scores this week but then for the next month - very little. I passed on her. I am looking for more consistency.

I play in 3 leagues with a total cost of about $500. After the drafts, I think that I might add another league next season but then as the season plays out I start feeling like 3 teams is too many. Sometimes it is hard to keep track of everything because not only do you have the players on your 3 teams but you also are watching the players on the teams you are playing against.

One thing I may try next season is finding a total points league. All 3 of my leagues are head-to-head and I'm having real bad luck this year. In all 3 leagues I am in the top 3 in points scored and my records are 6-6, 6-6, and 5-7. Maybe it's just one of those years?
