It is commonly said that "so and so gets a boost because his team's defense is terrible and therefore will get tons of yards/recpts/points in garbage time."
In particular, I'm looking at this year's Cowboys skill positions. With the loss of D. Ware and now S. Lee from an already porous defense, the Dallas O would seem to fit the above profile.
It seems to me that offenses with bad defenses often get totally shut down with 3 and outs and turnovers because they become highly predictable after getting behind early and playing in catch up mode. Points in garbage time seem much more random than predictable.
Is it all just a perception or is "garbage time" something to bake into your drafting strategy?
