How much trading in your league? (1 Viewer)

I my one 14 team league that has been together 15 years trading is way down.

We used to wheel and deal. Now it is the same 2-3 teams that stir up talks, we have 4-5 teams that will not trade unles the fleece you.

We have another 4-5 that have never offered a trade.

We used to have 20-30 trades a year, now last season we only had 8-10 and I was involved in 4 trades.

Maybe the league is just getting stagnent.

I find a lot more trading takes place in extended draft leagues. It seems once some people get the ball rolling with some in draft trading, it just carries over into the season. Might be worth trying to shake things up.

My league is in its 13th year and we only have 2 - 3 trades per year. It's basically always been this way. We've known each other for a very long time, and definitely long enough not to trust each other.

Same here, but ours usually has maybe 5 or 6...Usually 1 or 2 blockbusters and then a few smaller ones as playoff time closes in...Also, theres almost ALWAYS a trade of swapping draft picks going into the draft. Not alot of trading, but mostly because of the trust issue....people are afraid to pull the trigger because they think theyre getting screwed

That's just the way it is. The first league I ever joined, back in 1997, is still around, but trading is way down since the beginning. But I think a lot of it was because we aren't in contact as much as we were back then, and also because we are a dynasty league and not a redraft like we were back then. When you have a dynasty, some teams feel they are set and don't need to make trades. Or there are always going to be those who are afraid to because they feel they will get screwed. If you want to promote things, then I'd suggest hitting the reset button and start the league completely over. I always find redraft leagues as the ones with the most trading. You're not having to worry about "long term effects" and you don't have to worry about people being skitish about pulling the trigger. Everyone is looking at the end goal for that year -- the championship. Not the championship next year or the next.

I feel your pain. As the leagues get experience, the better players want the trades of old and the worse ones tend not to trade unless it is absolutely a good deal.

I think if you can get managers together to discuss their different value for the same players, that helps.

Getting the worse players to improve and find more confidence in there values helps too.

IDP can sometimes be used to make up the difference in a trade that is close.

Remind the league that it is fun to banter and bargain and it takes more guts to be wrong than not play at all.

Good luck!

I am seeing this more in my dynasty league of 9 years. Also, if an owner gets burn by a trade he is hesitant to make future trades. Last year had a guy trade Jordon for Walker :bag: . This same owner trade Horn for S. Davis two years ago. Two years in row injuries burned him in trading.

There are very few "good" trades in fantasy football. Trading just for the sake of trading is pointless.

I disagree with Jedeye as trades CAN really help when there is a strength in one area and a deficiency in another.

20th year with half league turnover has seen a lot of skepticism in trading, but we put a 3-day hold on trades and must not get rejected by more than 40% of the league to go through

I feel your pain. I'm in a keeper league and tried to move Tomlinson. Trade offers were horrible. One offer was Eli Manning straight up.

This is typically the case. Most trade offers are completely bogus. I never said that Im opposed to trading, as I have made a couple in the past. What I said was that trading just for the sake of trading is pointless. However, there can be some "good" trades. IF one team has needs in a certain area and strengths in another area AND you find a team with the opposite strenghts and weaknesses, THEN a good trade can take place.

Most trade offers are just put out there to see if youre dumb enough to bite.
