The league I commish has special contests weeks 12-14. The rules read like this:

Week 12 - Best starting QB wins $20

Week 13 - Best starting RB wins $20

Week 14 - Best starting WR wins $20

Our league is start [3 WR] or [2 WR and 1 TE]. I really should have written:

Week 14 - Best starting WR/TE wins $20

So Donald Driver and Antonio Gates tied this week.

Should I just pay $20 to the guy with Driver, or explain to the league I meant WR/TE and split it?

The owners haven't said anything yet and the guy with Driver is expecting $20.

I think you should split the money. Intent was to reward the highest scorer at that position on your fantasy team (which encompasses multiple real-life positions), correct?

Since you allow a TE to sub in as a WR, you're in essence rolling TE into the WR category.Split.
