How soon will you snipe Chris Henry? (1 Viewer)

Suspended for 8 games if im not mistaken.

Week 5 approaches.

He is available in almost every league, and with all the recent talk of #3 woes in Cincin people are starting to count down his suspension...

You cant deny his potential as a #3 rivals just about any other #3 in the league once he becomes available.

How long do you think it will take for him to get back into game speed?

Do you plan to grab him?

If so, when?

How soon is too soon in your opinion?

I grabbed him this week. Luckily my team is one of the few in our league not fighting injuries this year so while every one was trying to field a lineup, I was able to find a spare spot on my bench for him.

Should I need, I may have to throw him back but I am hoping the injury fairy continues to watch over my squad.

My answer was draft and stash. But if you want him, don't wait. Be aggressive and go get him.
I'm in 4 leagues, i have a different strategy depending on my team roster and bye week fill ins, but i plan to target him everywhere. His potential is too great to pass up the chance IMO.

I'm looking to get him soon.

The Bengals are on BYE which means that the available Bengals players will generally be overlooked in most leagues. Coming off the BYE Henry's return will start making the news and announcers will probably begin to talk about him more.

My only concern is that with Chad and TJ eating up such a large chunk of the numbers how much will realistically be left for Henry once he returns?

Question about his suspension. It's 8 weeks, I know this much. Does it include the BYE though, making his return week 9 or 10?

I am pretty positive it is 8 games. The bye does not count (just like with Tank Johnson). So, he will be available to play in week 10 of fantasy.

I two leagues he was drafted in both.

Coicidentally by me in both.

Once because he has to be drafted to be a "keeper".

T'other because he's the best receiver on the team (when out of jail) and there's nothing wrong with some fresh legs for the stretch run.

It's a good question and a tricky play. If you've got room on your bench, it's a no brainer: go get him now. You will have a solid WR#2 to plug and play down the stretch. However, with byes and the plague of injuries, bench space may be hard to come by. Plus, you don't want to pick him up and then drop him to alert the rest of the league that he's on your radar. In a well-informed, 15 man roster league, I would target week 6 as the week to get him. In a similar 16 man roster league, this week may be your last shot. I would not target him unless you have a winning record at this point -- you likely have too many other holes to fill and need to make up ground during the byes.

I'm probably going to nab him this week. What do you guys think of his 2008 and beyond potential?
His long-term potential is directly related to his behaviour. If he can keep his nose clean he's a heck of a player to have on your dynasty team, especially if he can become the WR1 on another team.I have no idea what his contract situation is, but he definitely has the talent to be a teams WR1. Should he be signed by another team as their WR1 or WR2, his value skyrockets. If he's available in a keeper or dynasty league and you've got the roster space, it costs you virtually nothing to stash him away.

Drafted him in round 21 of 22. Plan was to have him ride the pine, then play him or use him as trade bait to fill any other lineup needs.

I was just looking up Henry at FO. His DVOA and catch % last year look significantly lower than CJ's and Housh's. I'm wondering if his TDs last year were flukish. I mean, 9 TDs on 36 catches doesn't seem repeatable. Do the Bengals just like to use him in the redzone? Otherwise, I'm not sure what's so exciting about him. The guy played in 13 games last year and caught 2 balls or less in 7 of them. Who wants to stash a guy for half a season and have the extra worry that he could get in trouble again at any time and not come back this season, and then get a 3-30 without a TD in your playoffs.

I can't imagine anyone would want to start a WR3, even on the Bengals, except in very large leagues.
This is close to my thought but further more IF you were to use a WR3 I'd say James Jones and McDonald from DET are the best Wr3's this season.

on a bye week and a team with injuries, a player with Henry's stats suddenly looks pretty good. Add that to that fact that if TJ or Chad go down (which looking at their targets is not out of the realm of possibility), Henry's value skyrockets.

Chris Henry is a handcuff for either Chad Johnson or Tj Housh.... It's simple as that. If you have either or, PICK HIM UP by next week in 12+ teams...

If you haven't grabbed him yet, pointing out that he's available on a lot of waivers on the largest football discussion board in the world probably doesn't help you more than it may hurt you.I was planning to wait another week. After seeing Henry's name on the front page of the Shark Pool, any chance of him being there next week in my league is now gone so I just picked him up.

In games where BOTH CJ and Housh played, Henry has averaged 2.5 receptions, 36 receiving yards, and 0.6 TD per game. That works out to 7.2 fantasy ppg (0 ppr) and 9.7 fantasy ppg (1 ppr). I suspect that that would make him a middle of the road to bottom tier WR3 based on the TDs (but many times pretty useless in games when he doesn't score).

Henry is not a handcuff!
How is that? It's the closest thing for a WR your gonna get. If either one goes down, Henry will be plugged in...I must be missing something...
Last year he was worth starting as a fantasy WR3 even with TJ and CJ in the lineup.Which if he does that again this year would make him like LJ when he was backing up Priest. It was a misnomer to call him a handcuff since LJ was putting up starter numbers himself even while being a backup.

Of course the question then is, will Henry put up those kind of numbers again this year when he comes back.

Exactly. Thanks OP for this shark move.
