How thin is your Waiver Wire? (1 Viewer)

Keg

Footballguy
was just looking to see what LBs were available in one of my leagues and noticed that there are only FOUR FA LBs avail in our top 70 LBs

so then I decided to ck all positions and this is what I found:

35 man rosters +12 player DTS

we start 2-3DL, 2-3LB, 2-3DBs total of 8

4 FA LBs avail on the wire(best avail: Barber #29)

11 FA DBs avail on the wire(best avail: Justin Miller #31)

27 FA DLs avail on the wire(best avail: VHolliday #12)

3 other leagues with the same roster and starting requirements:

40 man rosters +13 player DTS

we start 2-3DL, 2-3LB, 2-3DBs total of 8

1st league:

ZERO ZIP NADA FA LBs avail in the top 70 and only 2 avail in the top 100

7 FA DBs avail on the wire(best avail: RMarshall #12)

20 FA DLs avail on the wire(best avail: Brian Young #13)

2nd league:

ZERO ZIP NADA FA LBs avail in the top 70 and only 5 avail in the top 100

10 FA DBs avail on the wire(best avail: RMarshall #13)

19 FA DLs avail on the wire(best avail: KTraylor #15)

3rd league(1st yr so only 8 player DTS)

3 FA LBs avail on the wire(best avail: Poppinga #54)

13 FA DBs avail on the wire(best avail: RMarshall #13)

24 FA DLs avail on the wire(best avail: Brian Young #13)

thats pretty slim fishing in my leagues, just curious how your waiver wires look

In a 14 team keeper that starts 5 IDPs. There's quite a bit available and several of us playing matchups every week. In a week 6 bye week mess I was able to add David Thornton and Brian Dawkins yesterday. I dropped Antoione Winfield and don't regret it. That torn quad made the decision for me. Chances are I can recover him next Tuesday anyway. Fun stuff.

In Z30 (53 man rosters) it is pretty much a desert. Poppinga LB67 is first available and many beneath him are taken. There's always DBs to be found.

In one 25 man, start 8IDP, 12 team redraft and one identical auction redraft, the waiver wires look about the same. LBs like Ware, Thornton, Fujita, AWilson, TDavis and EJ Henderson are available and in the top 40 scoring. There is some bye week juggling going on with weeks 6 and 7 and then things will probably tighten up some. I find these two leagues to be the most enjoyable formats year in and out.

I'm in one of those leagues with keg.... I don't go to the waiver wire often, because there just isn't anything there. I was in a bind for an LB, and I managed to get Crowell (1 yr contract) for T Green (1yr), M Muhammed (2 yrs) and 8 league dollars. Pretty steep, but I had some depth at QB and WR. Mush was my #2 WR though... but since I usually start 3 RB's (excluding bye weeks) I could get by using a 2 WR set with DJax, Evans, Furrey, Gabriel and M Clayton. I also have Drew Carter on my DTS.

In fact, I play keg this week, and we both have a good shot at the playoffs, key matchup to determine who sits in the wild card spot. It's tough, but it's actually more like a real NFL team. Released players will rarley make an impact by the aquiring team. I carry some players just in case the starter goes down. Pot luck, really. Players like Draft just aren't out there. IF a starter gets hurt, and his replacement isn't on a roster, the bidding gets very high in league dollars. (blind bids) Usually the back up isn't even available.

Spend too much on the waiver wire, and I can kiss Crowell goodbye in this year's FA period after the season. Having said all of that, this is my favorite format. I held T Green JUST because I knew I could steal a top ten player later on, once a QB got hurt or benched here or there. LOL... but the guy I traded him to (in my division) needed him for week 7..... and that looks bad for him now.

Leagues like this require more planning for contingencies than leagues that offer a lot of window shopping opportunities for FA's on the waiver wire.

16 team league with a start 7 for IDPs and 32 man roster. I didn't look but I imagine my league is no better on the waivers than yours.

i would pick up green just for the good karma, supposedly 8s are lucky numbers in china

My league is 12 teams with 45-man rosters, start 11 IDP.

In the top 60 per position:

3 LB

10 DB (1 is Roman Harper, who I cut)

14 DL

It's pretty darn thin, since there a lot of underperformers still being held.
