How to determine draft order without league owners being present (1 Viewer)

I have created a new league this year and as with all first year leagues I am faced with the task of determining the draft order.

The league has 12 teams and drafts in a serpentine fashion. In the past we have drawn ping pong balls numbered 1 - 12 out of a hat prior to the draft on draft day. This is fair because all are present and the drawing is conducted in everyone's presence.

What I am looking for is a way to determine the draft order prior to the draft without all members being present that is fair and not subject to scrutiny from the league members.

For example, if I end up with the first pick I don't want people to say that I am getting the 1st pick only because I am the commish or I am playing favorites with my better friends in the league.

Does anyone know of a way to prevent this and set the draft order prior to the draft date so that the league members can prepare for the draft knowing there draft posititon in advance and at the same time protect the commish from league scrutiny?

Any help would be appreciated.

lots of websites out there that you plug in the teams names, and the emails of each person in your league, and it does a completely random draft order. Here's one for ya:

Most of my leagues use this. The best thing is everyone can roll their own.

The setting we use are:

How many dice would you like to roll: 1

How many sides are on each dice: 1000

Should anything be added or subtracted from the roll: No

Then uncheck the "drop highest roll" and drop lowest roll" boxes.

The entire roll can be repeated how many time: 1

Then have everyone title what the roll is for, their email goes in the top email line, the commishes goes in another. The roll is not valid if the commish doesn't get mailed the results. Someone else gets the commishes roll.

Then click roll them bones, and a number between 1 and 1000 will show up. That gets emailed to the roller and the commish.

You can test it out too.

Some leagues, high roll picks first, then 2nd high, and so on.

Some leagues will let high roll select his preferred draft position, then 2nd high selects, and so on. Just specify before you roll.

Use the state lotteries. The pick 3 works well. Assign each person a state and picka date and time. Compare each lottery draw and the lowest number picks first...

The cool thing about it is the results can be emailed to multiple people. So I will type out the email with the draft instruction (I do it differently each year, number of rolls, repeat the rolls, number of dice and number of sides.) I send that email out and then about 5 minutes after words I do my roll. Sending it to one random member and the other commish. Works well. Just insure that you only accept emails straight from the dice server and no forwards.

I've witnessed an auction live, and i would rather draft i thin a real draft is more fun. Everyone should not have the oppurtunity to draft the same players
