How will everyone react when the GOP kicks Trump from the race? (1 Viewer)

This is coming, right?  They know Rubio can beat anyone he faces in the general election.  The GOP establishment will just do it without an explanation if it has to.  They won't let Trump be the nominee.  I think this will be the story of the 2016 election.  How will everyone react when it happens?

If it happens, I'll be happy because it will be good for the country. And he may do it all on his own, no kicking necessary. Hopefully the nation is the one doing the kicking.

Well, Trump would react by going 3rd party, once again fragmenting the GOP vote. Rubio suddenly becomes not-so-electable.

My initial reaction would be shock or disbelief. But then I would pour a drink and move on to denial, bargaining, guilt, anger, depression, and then acceptance.

It is never going to happen so why even bother spending an ounce of thought on it

This is along the thought process of all the people who kept saying in the Trump thread. "So he is just doing this as a joke, right?" Or my favorite one after every Trump comment, "This has to do it, He will withdraw, right?"

Trump isn't going anywhere. He is probably about 80-90% likely to be the GOP nominee and he is going to make the General Election a lot of fun--especially if he is up against Cljnton, who has been handled with kids gloves by Bernie. She wil not be afforded the same by Trump.

The same way the other side will react when Hillary gets the nod over Bernie b/c of 'super delegates' and they all realize the whole system is rigged and it makes no matter what anyone in the general population wants.

Not going to happen. It would induce a huge crap storm and the Democrats aren't looking for that kind of drama.

I don't think it's so unlikely, if Trump does badly in SC it becomes a real possibility that he runs 3rd party outside the GOP.

- Look at what that idiot did to the USFL, all he had to do was play by the rules, he screwed up the future of the whole league. All the "big" things he does goes this way.

Hey Saints, will you go Trump or Hillary in the general?

Im guessing you actually say Hills.

I think they are willing to risk that because trump as nominee is a bigger risk.  They are just hoping rubio can win it clean before making the move.

Agree. The superdelegates are there to influence voters ("don't waste your time voting for Bernie") in the primary, not decide the outcome.

The GOP won't kick trump out.  That will virtually guarantee Trump runs 3rd party.  They're going to have to buy him out some how or come to an agreement.

If they can do that, then Rubio can definitely take the general.

I despise Hillary but no way would Eddie Haskell beat her.
The public always votes for the good looking candidate in the general election.  The people who are voting don't care about issues.  They just want someone who looks good.  If Rubio gets there, he is a shoo in.  He will probably win big.

Yeah this ain't happening, that guarantees the Democrat is elected.  GOP would prefer Trump over Hillary or Bernie.

Regardless of how you feel about Trump if they kick him to curb that will be the end of the GOP as a party...much of Trump's appeal is giving the middle finger to the party establishment...reading a lot of political posts I don't think some realize how much resentment (and sense of betrayal) there is towards the "ruling elite" of the GOP...if he wins this thing fair and square and they pull the rug out of from under him it will be a full on Civil War in the party that will be beyond ugly...it will also mean an easy win for the dems as there is absolutely no chance many on the right right will rally around an establishment candidate...
