How would I look up top rookie wide receivers for the past 5 years? (1 Viewer)

I have tried to use pro football reference and I know the data is in there but I have no idea how to look it up. I want to see stats for all wide receivers in their first NFL seasons for say the last 5 years. Basically I am trying to find out where Kendall Wright's rookie season falls amongst every other first year player for that span?

I am not a computer guy really and I know it's probably really simple but if somebody could take the time to point me towards a resource I can digest, I'd appreciate it.

Randy Moss's rookie year is so filthy in so many ways.
If he and TO hadn't been such mental midgets one or both of them would still be playing and putting up solid seasons IMO. Neither of them was being stopped by an NFL defense when they quit playing (i.e. couldn't find a team willing to put up with their crap).

great posting. only 5 rookie WR since 2000 with any real starting value in a fantasy league. and only 2 of them were HIGHLY regarded. We had some people in our league that LOVED Anquan Boldin, even though regular folks didn't know what to expect. Clayton was a blip. and Colston was listed as a freakin' TE the first year. Even "can't miss" guys like Calvin Johnson take time to develop.

When referring to Moss and say "quit playing" are you referring to his lack of effort - because he was still playing in the league last season and didnt' look all that good - and also looked quite bad the season he bounced around from NE to Minny to Tenn.

How did you look that up though? What is your source?
Have you tried using the Data Dominator? Historical Data Dominator? Very nice tools that can give you exactly what you're looking for.

ETA: Available right here at your neighborhood FBG website.

I mean if Moss had shut his mouth and worked hard and just played football for his entire career I think he might still be playing. Probably didn't say that all that well.

It is. People will look for excuses for players they like, and Locker does suck IMO, but if the only way you can get open is to run everything underneath and you never break long ones you just aren't going to last very long in the NFL.

That doesn't bode well for Kendall Wright.

Looks like rookies are not that productive recently... not too surpising considering the learning curves and such.

2006-2012 Rookie Seasons

62 Players had a minimum of 15 catches with 200+ yards receiving and 2 TD. #62 was Chaz Schilens with 15-226-2 (34.4 FP).

- 3 Players had 70+ Catches (Eddie Royal with 91, Colston with 70, and Bowe with 70).

- 11 Players had 60+ Catches. Minimum FP was 84.4 for Greg Little (61-709-2).

- 2 Players had over 1,000 Yards (Colston and A.J. Green). 7 Players had over 900 Yards.

- 18 Players finished with over 100 FP. 8 Players finished over 125+ FP.

- Marques Colston, A.J. Green, Mike Williams, and Julio Jones were the only WRs who were "studs" out of the gate in Year 1.

As it is, only 23 players hit the 92 FP minimum. Only 9 players topped 120+ FP as starter-worthy rookies. Worth noting is that of the 18 players who topped 100 FP, 9 of them came between 2010-2012.

Looking at the data, you are more likely to hit a WR who finishes with 40 - 57 FP [19 Players] or 65-80 FP [12 Players] range. The odds of "hitting" on the top WR is very slim and even taking a stud rookie isn't guaranteed to produce major fantasy points.

Unless you are in a Dynasty/Keeper or heavily focused PPR with deep rosters/teams, I would avoid rookies unless they represented great value in the later middle to last rounds.
