Isn't that like giving Trent Green away for nothing?mike williams is rumored to be cut. chiefs need wr help. trent green has almost assuredly lost his job and has ties with mike martz, and the lions could use an upgrade. both needs filled?

Agreed. While I've always thought Green was a good QB, I would see this as a step back for DET. Kitna's just fine for the short term. Having said that, I couldn't help but think at the end of last year that Martz just somehow saw something in BMW. I assumed we'd see him in one more training camp.I don't see how Trent Green is an upgrade from Jon Kitna.
IIRC Cam Cameron was the OC in Washington when T. Green was getting his start in Washington. Add Shea as the QB coach and Miami is the most likely destination. However, I can't see Miami parting with yet another mid round pick for another QB after trading picks for Harrington, Culpepper and even the backup QB they got from SD But since this is a new regime, anything is possible. In theory yes it might make sense, as DET is one of only a select few places I see Green still being productive. But Mike Williams would NOT fit here in KC. LJ is bad enough....can you imagine Mike Williams in that locker room with him?All of this depends on if Trent is hell-bent on starting. If that is the case, I only see one fit, and that is Miami, even though they don't run the offense Green has been in his entire career...but Green's guy Terry Shea is the new QB coach there. If Green wants to compete for a job, the best fits would be WASH and DET, as their offenses are run by Martz and Saunders. As a KC fan, I would take a 4th round pick for him right now. That is how little I feel he has left.
Nope. Cameron was never the OC of any NFL team other than the Chargers. He was the Redskins' quarterback coach from 94-96, but Green didn't arrive until 97. By that time, Cameron was the head coach of the legendary Hoosiers football team.IIRC Cam Cameron was the OC in Washington when T. Green was getting his start in Washington.
You are correct, Cameron was the QB coach. But according to the Chiefs site and in particular the blurb on Trent Green, Cameron was instrumental in his development with the Skins."... Didn’t even attempt his first regular season NFL pass until the ‘97 season with the Redskins, where head coach Norv Turner and quarterbacks coaches Cam Cameron and Mike Martz were instrumental in helping jumpstart his career … " So there apparently is a tie there.Nope. there are not many more teams with a wr situation as dire as the chiefsMike Williams needs to go to a team like Minnesota, where the WR situation is wide open and there are no incumbents who have impressed. There, he could do his thing and if his thing works out, great, if it doesn't, no big deal.

Titans and Minnesota off the top of my head...don't be hating on Eddie.there are not many more teams with a wr situation as dire as the chiefsMike Williams needs to go to a team like Minnesota, where the WR situation is wide open and there are no incumbents who have impressed. Plus the Chiefs have Gonzo while the Vikes have Shiancoe at TE. Webb is also well-liked by the Chiefs' staff, and even though Parker has been unimpressive at least he's been a starter for them a couple of years. The Vikes don't really have a WR they trust. Williamson has been a frustration. Both Robinsons and T Taylor are gone, and that leaves McMullen, UDFA Nance, and Wade to go with Williamson. I'd say the KC situation is a lot more stable.LHUCKS said:Titans and Minnesota off the top of my head...don't be hating on Eddie.Jackal said:there are not many more teams with a wr situation as dire as the chiefsMike Williams needs to go to a team like Minnesota, where the WR situation is wide open and there are no incumbents who have impressed. nothings wrong with Kitna, but Green is a pretty solid QB. I can't see how having another good QB can hurt, and usually competition makes players play even better. If they're just going to cut BMW, then why isn't this a good move? What's wrong with Kitna? He ranked 1st in completions, 4th in passing yards, and 9th in passing TDs. Fantasy wise, Kitnas was the #6 QB last year.Is Green that much of an upgrade? He'll be 37 by the start of the season.
1) Green's age 2) McCown and Orlovsky have spent a year learning the Martz system, one may be the heir apparent to Kitna, and if Green came in one of them would have to be cut for a guy who has no future with the organization.Green makes no sense in Detroit.nothings wrong with Kitna, but Green is a pretty solid QB.
