No.I believe that the salient characteristics of a man are that he is a good provider and defends the rights of those who cannot defend themselves. It's the only definition I use. If I use my definition and determine that you're not really a man, do I have the right to bar you from entering a men's public restroom?

Hey, if you are in favor of offending 99% of the population to make a small segment feel more comfortable and accepted (though there are many other ways of doing this without making everyone else uncomfortable), then by all means I applaud your enthusiasm.

But we don't need much else in the way of definitions other than "if you are born with a penis you are male" the term "man" is irrelevant anyway. "Male" is the term you are looking for.

And you can bar me from the mens restroom if you want as long as you provide me with an adequate restroom I can use, be it the female restroom or a unisex restroom.

Again, the bigger problem he has nothing to do with the transgender in question, but with the blatant disregard for the rest of the population this makes uncomfortable.

When people want to be taller, it doesnt make them taller.

If you have a male who actually thinks he is female, that is a psychiatric disorder.

When you have a male who believes he was meant to be a female and lives his life as a female, but realizes that he is actually in fact a male, that is called being transgender, which is not a psychiatric disorder.

So just to be clear, some of you are ok with making everyone uncomfortable rather than just making boys go to the boys room and girls go to the girls room, and maybe a few kids per school will be uncomfortable (though MOST, based on conversations with many of these kids, are fine with it).

So you do realize (actually I am sure you do not) that most transgender kids in school may not like using their assigned bathrooms, but they are absolutely not causing any firestorm over it, and most have the attitude of "eh, I'll be out of school soon anyway, it's not a big deal", so basically all this is to placate just a very few people while upsetting everyone else.

I imagine maybe a very tiny bit, but NONE of them have any plans to raise any kind of #### about having to use the "wrong" bathrooms.

The levels of embarrassement and feelings of being discriminated against are rather small. They may be there, but to what level??

Well, I also discuss this with adults. A lot more than kids, because I tend to represent adults much more often. And here's what adults say looking back, virtually universally:The bathroom/locker room experience was probably the worst part of high school. It may not have been something I protested, or something I talked about, but it was absolutely the most shameful, embarrassing, horrifying part of growing up. It's still something I think about in bouts of depression, and anxiety, and fear, and shame, and it makes me sick to my stomach. And I won't live like that anymore, now, as an adult.

I appreciate that you have experience with transgender youth. Please also appreciate that you have experience with transgender youth who have access to healthcare related to their concerns. And that I experience transgender youth who do not.
