Hunt or Ambush (1 Viewer)

I am in the middle of debating the idea of chasing a trade from an owner. In fact I'm in 2 leagues, and I'm targeting 2 diff owners, but that doesn’t make a difference.

My quam, is that I'm tryin to decide if its better to make the move before the season starts, or wait till the first week is over. What makes the decision?

I’m tryin not to drop names, but maybe its relevant, but this isn’t a “rate my trade”, as much as it is a “when to move on a player”? Should I hunt (make the move now), or ambush (wait)>

It depends on the kind of player. If you're making a move for one of his top starters, wait until the guy has a bad game. If you're making a move starter for starter, wait until your guy has a big game. If you're making a move for one of his backups, and the guy has the potential to win a job early and have his trade value go through the roof (Benson, Maroney, Addai, Tatum Bell, or even a guy like Ben Watson) you're pretty much hosed unless you draft him, or the guy comes out of the gates slow. Your only hope is to gamble for a couple weeks and then make your move, because the other guy is thinking that his super sleeper is going to explode at any minute and won't want to give him up. If you're high on a guy because you think you have some kind of informational advantage, then try to make a deal for another player on his team, then work him in as the back end of a 2 for 2.

Here's the thought.

He has TJ Housh, & Brett Favre

He is down down down on Favre. . .hates him this year. While, I think Favre will be a decent QB to have if you are stacked at your other pos. I'm not saying that he will be a top 5 QB by any means, but a serviceable #1.5 isnt out of the books. Now I am doing ok at my WR, in fact pretty solid I think, but adding TJ as my #3/#2 would be better than Glenn as my #3. . . .I just have a man crush on TJ this year. Could be way off, but it's a hunch.

Now waiting on Favre for after this weekend would be ideal. I think he comes out and looks pretty bad this weekend against the bears and still getting comfortable with the new off, but come a few games in I think he's fine. So waiting on Favre makes sense.

TJ on the other hand will be the exact opposite. I think this weekend Palmer comes out plays well, hits both CJ & TJ to prove that he's fine, and TJ will post top 10 numbers for the weekend. If not top 15.

After that TJ's value will be high until he has a few bad weeks, and IF he has a few bad weeks. At that point not sure if its feasible to pull him from an owner.

Who knows, maybe I get lucky and the both fall short this weekend, but at that point do I want to make the trade?

The art of trading I suppose.
