Obviously theres been an insane amount of advancement in athletic training over the year. I don't think anyone would argue that the worst team of today(most likely the Lions) would absolutely crush the best teams from the 60s. Imo the 70s get a lot tougher with those great Steelers teams if we were hypothetically matching them up against the 2008 Lions. And I think that once we got to the 80s that the great teams of those years would have to be favored, although there still is quite a huge disparity in things such as 40 yard dash times, average lineman weight, etc. from then to today, so I'm not even so sure there.
So I figured this might be an interesting debate. For the purpose of this discussion assume that teams from the past do NOT have access to today's training methods or techniques. Moreover, assume that they are not aware of all of the strategic advances(so for example, teams from before the West Coast offense era would have never seen it). I guess we'll say that each team would have a week to prepare, so they'd get to study up on the latest techniques for a week before the game.
