I am Benching SJax this week against BUF D for: (1 Viewer)

I am benching SJax (my 1.6 pick, UGH) this week for Steve Slaton. Pace is hurt, Trent Green is gonna get killed, and STL will be playing from behind the whole game.

I wish I had Buf DST, they may pitch a shut out.

I would consider starting Jackson too. I am likely wrong but this smells like a classic "trap" game for Buffalo.

3-0 vs 0-3.

0-3 team is at home, wounded, backed into a corner with a coach on the hotseat.

Visiting team is 3-0, on the road, coming off a tough, emotional come from behind win.

The 3-0 team is still coached by Jauron.........

I think the Rams give them a game. If they do not win I think it will be close.

What timing on this thread--I was just going over numbers again regarding my options this week!

At this point I've got SJax on the bench in favor of Chris Perry vs Cleveland; I could also play them both and bench Bowe vs Den.

It just feels like there's more promise with either of them....it sure would be a perfect trap game though--and I've been trapped once already this season! I just don't see it happening again. :goodposting:

Any updates on Pace?

The Rams use Jackson in the passing game. I don't see why you would sit him. Even if they get behind, he'll still get his points.

Jackson is averaging about 100 total yards per game so far. The Rams have played the Eagles (#1 run defense), the Giants (#7 run defense) and the Seahawks (#9 run defense). So he hasn't really had it all that easy. Granted, the Bills are #12 against the run and #5 overall, but I think Jackson will still get about 100 total yards. The question will be whether or not he gets a TD. IMO, those are hard to predict though. I think he's more likely to get a TD than anyone else on the Rams team. And Buffalo is prone to giving up long runs. They'll stuff a team 6 out of 7 times, but then give up a 20 yard run. So it's certainly possible that he could break a TD run.

When did the 2008 Buffalo Bills become the 2000 Ravens? Did I miss something?

They're fifth in the NFL in total defense and sixth or seventh in points against. Most of that is on the strength of a win against a Seattle team that was without their top 4 or 5 WRs. Their other two wins are over a Jacksonville team with a decent but not great offense that repeatedly stalled in the red zone, and an Oakland team has been roundly ridiculed but still managed to score 23 on them. They also have yet to play in a dome

Bench a marginal player because this is a relatively tough matchup? Sure. Bench Steven Jackson? Not a chance.

play Jackson til his groin injury gets worse.

He missed practice wednesday(?) and then yesterday was curiously saying how it's no big deal he's fine it's nothing like last year and....carrying on a bit much which made it kind of curious.

Slayton while he might be a good play, has had 1 decent game as a rookie mostly due to his 50 yard run. Can he repeat that vs. jacksonville? Maybe, but I wouldn't start him over Steven Jackson.

Let's be fair here. Oakland is 3rd in the league in rushing offense, Seattle is 4th and Jacksonville is 13th. They may not be great teams, but they've managed to run the ball pretty well in the games that weren't against the Bills. You're right though, the Buffalo defense isn't Baltimore '00. They're certainly not even Baltimore '08. But they've done a pretty good job against teams that have managed to run the ball just fine against other defenses.

Pace is good to go.He fully participated in practice yesterday (groin).

JMO, but I think that Trent Green playing actually makes the argument to start Jackson more appealing. Al Saunders is quite familiar with Trent Green, who is not known for a strong arm and who has shown a good ability to throw it to the RB coming out of the backfield (Priest Holmes?) in Saunders offense.

would you start LJ over JAX? right now i was starting LT and JAX but thinking bout playing LJ over JAX???????

I AM starting Jackson over Turner. (also starting bush). I suspect Jackson will have a very busy day. He will turn in at least good fantasy stats regardless of how suck his team is. I am assuming ppr.

*sigh* Guess it's as good a shot as any...but I sure hate leaving my best matchups on the bench.
Never sit your studs-----unless you have another stud to take his place. :lmao:
There's always exceptions to every rule. I'm concerned that this could be one of those--particularly when it looks like the Ram's games have been 'one on eleven' through the first three weeks.

You make valid points, and I think we're on the same page here- they're good, but they're not so good that you would bench a starter of Jackson's caliber, especially since whoever would be replacing him in a 2RB league would have to be, at best, and early third-round pick. Defenses that good come along once a decade or so. The Bills aren't close.Plus as others have mentioned, Jackson catches a lot of passes, so you can't look solely at their rushing defense.

some very good points made here - I am glad I posted. I am in a PPR league, and the point regarding T Green is well taken. Seeing that Pace is OK is encouraging as well. Thank you all for the input.

Are we the only two posters who are concerned about this groin issue? He seemed all to eager to tell everyone that is ok and there is nothing to worry about. My prediction for this game is Jackson comes out of the game before it is over due to this groin problem. He missed 4 games last year so it he is susepitable to the injury. I don't have a good feeling about him this Sunday. I hope he makes it through the game because he is on my team in my 1 PPR league.

I thought that would happen last week vs OAK. BUF D isnt that great....
I thought the BUF D played pretty good last week. Their Offense turned the ball over 3 times giving Oakland great field position, which accounted for most of the points Oakland scored.

He's going to have a great game now that you posted this. Everyone will bump this and make fun of you on Sunday Night.

As a Bills fan, I hate this post.

I considered benching Jackson this week, but my alternatives are CJ or Lenwhale vs. MIN.. Not much better of an option

Never sit your studs-----unless you have another stud to take his place.
 So guys are considering sitting there 4th or 5th overall pick 3 games into the season for a myriad of diff't players :hophead:

You have got to be kidding me...

He has 65 touches through 3 games....even though he hasn't scored yet you still have to start him...don't be the Jim Leyland of FF and try and outcoach yourself... he'll get into the endzone this week....bank it

Theres a chance that he's NOT a stud on the 08 Rams. SSmith is a stud but he had to be benched last year at some point. When that was meant when you actually got points. Im benching him for JStewart or PThomas. (not ppr)

Sat him for Chris Perry. I have a gut feeling the whole team lays down on Linehan, and he gets fired on Monday.
