I’m about to head to the airport to catch a flight to South America. Phoenix - Dallas - Buenos Aires - Ushuaia.

I hang out in Ushuaia for a couple days then hop on a 180 person ship to cross the Drake Passage (2 days 😬), then four stops in Antarctica, across the Drake Passage again, then home.

2 weeks total. I’ll post pics!

This will be my last continent to visit 🥃

A friend's parents did this recently. Seems like a real bucket list item, although I want to hit the cold places up north that don't have the Drake Passage first.

Awesome. Who are you sailing with? Silversea? Scenic? I know there are a quite a few sailing there now.

I’ll be at the Phoenix airport today too. I’ll look for you!
Ah bummer! I just boarded for Dallas.

Polar latitudes is the company. Ocean Albatross is the ship. I have my own balcony room, so that should be cool.

Ahhh, good one. I am interested in hearing how it goes. Enjoy!~

Drake Passage is supposed to have some interesting weather and seas. Hope it's relatively calm for your crossings.

Get to touch dirt down there?
Yes. Your ship has to have less than 200 people in order to be shuttled to land. I’m actually going to spend a night on the ice too.
i know i asked before but I have forgotten. Which company did you choose for this expedition
I used Swoop to help me book it. They were super helpful. Compared all the ships and expeditions in one place and really laid it out nicely.

Have you read Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing? See if you can load it on your eReader if not.

Enjoy the trip! I told the wife I wanted to travel like this when we retire. She told me no. :lmao: Looks like I'll be solo travelling when I get older. I'll be looking for the updates on your trips!

Hell, when you retire you’ll want the space, I’m sure she’ll welcome you leaving for a while.
This “solo travel” thing takes on a whole new meaning being single though. It can get pretty interesting…

My thoughts exactly and wondering if this trip has Shackleton roots at all. My favorite story of all time.
I have a couple books about people crossing the Drake Passage that I brought with me to read. I don’t think that’s one of them. And I got a new phone and can’t remember my Apple password, so I can’t download this one 😂

But I WILL check it out!
