I am starting _________ over Turner this week (1 Viewer)

Yes, I know Turner is a stud. I've played him ALL year long next to AP.

Last time these two teams played, Turner had like 40 some yards.

I know ATL is at home this week and that means....Turner will have a HUGE game but I can't take the risk. I don't have the guts to do it.

After seeing Tampa get stomped on MNF, I'm sure Tampa's Def will make some changes and they'll come out looking to stop Turner once again.

I'll be playing AP and Chris Johnson.

Johnson has not seen a snap for me unless he was in for the byes. However, this week I will start him with confidence as he faces Houston.

Anyone else?

Houston is still playing with heart and is a divisional foe. CJ3 is not a bad start, but I think you're on crack to bench The Burner. The way to attack the Tampa 2 is to run right at them. Perhaps you noticed this on MNF?Lastly, Atlanta has demonstrated a commitment to get Turner 25-35 carries per game even if the running game is not working well.Turner is a stud this year. Don't bench him; you'll regret it.

Start Turner. The guy is money at home and TB after going on the road for MNF (and losing badly) goes on the road again to play Atlanta.

The Panthers also held Turner to low rushing yards their first meeting, but when they played the Falcons in Atlanta, Turner ran for 4 TD's. You just never know how things will work out, and if the Bucs try to stack the box against Turner, Atlanta can go through the air. They are a very balanced offense. If you have a good matchup like it sounds with AP and Chris Johnson I understand sitting Turner, but otherwise I wouldn't sit him just because he is go up against Tampa Bay.

So you like Turner's matchup with Tampa less after seeing Tampa give up nearly 300 yards rushing?

[scratches his head...] Agreed. Huh? You wanna bench Turner because his thumb is a bit roached or you like Chris Johnson's matchup better that's one thing, but sitting him against a DEF that just got OWNED on a shorter work week is silly.

As a Turner owner, I absolutely like it less. Tampa has a very good defense who just got completely humiliated on NATIONAL TELEVISION (which they're rarely on anyway because they're Tampa). If you don't think they're going to be completely fired up for Sunday, you're crazy.

I'm sure Gruden ripped in to the defense after the game with that disgrace of a performance. I personally think he will have them fired up to redeem themselves on Sunday. That being said, Turner is a stud and a workhorse and I will not bench him. I am starting him with confidence.

I am struggling with this decision as well. I have LT, Turner, Ryan Grant, Sammy Morris, and Pierre Thomas. LT is definitely playing, and I'm really trying hard not to over-analyze the other RB's match ups. That said, I'm still tempted to start Pierre Thomas over Michael Turner because he has the hot hand and is involved in the passing game. Turner is not involved in the passing game and was held to 60 yards last week by the Saints.

An important variable in this equation is the health along the Tampa DL. They were very injured Monday night (from last weeks notes: "Chris Hovan is the only healthy defensive lineman entering the important showdown between 9-3 teams that could decide the NFC South title") and they clearly suffered from these injuries. If they still are injured, Turner becomes a better play. Of course, Turner's hand injury, while it may seem minor, is still soemthing worth keeping an eye on.

I think I'm going with Thomas Jones and Clinton Portis this week. I want to start Turner, but I can't pass up Portis' matchup against Cincy. On top of that he's ticked he did get more carries last week and will come out with a vengence against the hapless Bungles.

Sharks indeed...
I wouldn't say less is appropriate but it's certainly reasonable to assume that a normally tough defense like Tampa will come out with their best effort after being embarrassed on national TV like that. They've been a very tough D against the run all year; last night was most likely an anamoly and those don't usually repeat themselves in the NFL.

Let's not forget that earlier this season, they gave up 183 rushing yards to the Chiefs on the road.

I'm in a 14 team league. I'll be playing Turner and Clinton Portis these week. Only Fargas and Ladell Betts on the bench so not much of a decision. I also have Roddy White and Atlanta has carried me all year. Atlanta has been $ at home so I have to stick with them.

Good point. Perhaps they're not great against the run. They're currently ranked 18th. Obviously last night brings them down as they were 11th before that but maybe there is value here. It's worth evaluating how they do on the road and also checking the competition they've played...

I know where the OP is going with this. Remeber the horrible game the Ravens had? They got run all over by the Giants. They got a whopping 3 fantasy points that game. The next week they came out all pissed off and plastered Philly and got 30 ff points. History could repeat itself here. The Bucs are a proud unit.

I'm rolling with Turner, Cj and Thomas Jones....you'll feel less stupid if you play him and he gets stuffed .....than if you bench him and and he blows up for 4 tD's!!

He is a STUD...my plan early in the season was to deal him before this tough part of teh schedule - but after that comeback game against CAR he made a believer out of me...

The thought did cross my mind as well about Turner regarding Tampa looking to redeem itself, but just because the defense will make adjustments doesn't mean it'll work.

Tampa will be pumped up, but so will Atlanta at home as it's desperately fighting for a playoff spot as well. Expect the Falcons to try to smash mouth Tampa's DEF, and even if Turner is largely held in check, he could still get a couple of gratuituous short-yardage TDs.

Much like several others in here, I've got T. Jones, C. Johnson, and M. Turner.

Currently, I'm leaning toward TJ/CJ over Turner. Very much because I think Monte Kiffin gets the Bucs D good and PO'd this week. IMO that type of motivation is most prominent in football. However, Atlanta has to be feeling a lot of pressure right now as well. That is the flip side and why I'm waffling back and forth about this decision. Against Houston, however, I think CJ is guaranteed a score and most likely 100 combined yards. Given that my opponent has Gore, who I'm thinking won't play, I believe going with the more sure thing is the correct answer for me. But that might not work for everybody.

He's had his hand wrapped a few weeks now, but it doesn't seem to be an issue or we'd hear about it. Hasn't stopped him from getting 18 carries last week and 30 the week before.

People having the knee jerk reaction regarding TB coming to town ticked off forget that Atlanta just lost a close game that they had a chance to win, and got gashed themselves. I expect them to come out with something to prove as well. Another point to note, Atlanta does not have a back to back loss this year (but, then again, neither does TB).

I frankly think we have an added advantage. We're seeing essentially the same team we saw earlier in the season. TB is going to see a whole different animal than what they got in week 2. I can certainly understand why people are second guessing Turner, but I'm starting him.

I'll never bench him for a bad matchup again after the 4td day

I really don't have such great options anyway. ADP, Turner and then Sproles or Ward but neither of those two are enough to make me sit Turner.

I think the folks on here with ADP and CJ3 have a legitimate quandry, given their matchups. I don't have such an issue.

I learned my lesson when I benched Turner against Carolina after they shut him down the first time. End result was 4 TDS on my bench.

Turner gets you this far and you bench him at home??? :lmao:
against a team that just got ripped, when every division game has been won by the home team??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
In fairness, nobody here is talking about benching him for a mediocre option. I think most of the guys mentioned in this thread are top-10 type options this week. Let's not turn this into a WDIS thread but it's possible for people to have 2 options that are potentially better than Turner this week...

I was thinking about benching him for CJ3 and S.Jackson, but I'm leaning to CJ3 and Turner and benching Jackson.

I'm starting ADP, Turner, and Forte, with Roddy White as one of two WR's I'm starting... if they shut down the running game, White will be there to pick up the slack, which should then open the flood gates for Turner again.

PPR.

I've been debating between PT and Turner all week, because I distrust the matchup.

Plus, Thomas has outscored him 3 of the last 4 weeks (and was only a couple of points behind that 4 td outburst). It's a tough call.

Dynasty League, Start 2.LT, Westy, Turner, Portis, P.Thomas.Have it now as Start: Westbrook/LT; Bench: Turner >Thomas>Portis (injury?)

I am at an impass. I am coming off my by week so this week will determine superbowl. I have ridden Turner all year, but have managed to make some good trades late after I secured my bye. I start 3 RBs and my RBs include: LT, SJ, Turner, Grant and Thomas. I have definitely crossed off Thomas for this week at Chicago. I am definitely starting LT at KC. That leaves me with SJ against Seattle, Turner against Tampa, and Grant at Jacksonville. I need to pick 2 and am really having trouble deciding.

I have heard the arguments on both sides regarding Turner and believe that he is safe play considering he should be a lock for 20+ carries. Also, the other two are more likely to get injured.

I think that SJ has a ton of upside, but also may have the most downside.

Grant is also a pretty safe play. He will most likely get around 25 carries this week against a bad Jacksonville team and should score.

I guess this isn't a bad problem to have, but it would bug the hell out of me if I chose the wrong one and ended up losing because of it.

You guys are more than welcome to chime in if you have good insight.

I'm starting Turner and Pierre over Ronnie, Leon, Chester.

Unless you have some great options on your bench, I just can't see benching this guy. He's playing at home, he gets loads of carries and the team gives him all the goal line carries.

NT Hovan is questionable. They were already missing Jovan Haye and Gaines Adams was questionable heading into the Panthers game. Their D-Line is nicked pretty bad. I'll be keeping a close eye on the injury reports this week coming out of Tampa. If both Haye and Hovan miss this game it could be money.

I have Turner with Madison Hedgecock and Brad Hoover on the bench. I think I'll still with Turner. I hope this post was as helpful to you as others in this thread.
