I am starting _________ over Turner this week (1 Viewer)

No way did I mean to start/turn this into a WDIS thread.

I was just expressing what I thought would be the right play for me this weekend as I have a better/favorable option than Turner.

If I didn't have CJ3, Turner would be starting, but given all t hat I've said I feel CJ3 will give me the given points (I'm sure he'll get 100 yards, catch a couple passes and a td or maybe 2) while Turner can probably do the same or better but it's a risk and I don't have the guts to take the risk right now as I need to win.

I will be keeping an eye out for the Tampa DL injury status though.

I was thinking about benching him for CJ3 and S.Jackson, but I'm leaning to CJ3 and Turner and benching Jackson.
+1. I don't think it's crazy at all to bench him if you have CJ3, TJones, and ADP. OTOH if your go-to rationale is "the Bucs will be pissed" it is in fact a miracle yur in the playoffs.

Is anyone familiar with the health of the Tampa defense? I thought I remembered hearing they were a little banged up going into last week's game. The highlights that I saw of the Carolina game looked like Tampa was just schooled by hard running right at them. This would seem to play to Turner's strength. I plan on starting him over Portis and Grant.

2 starting DTacks (Haye and Hovan) didn't practice today and are questionable for the game this week.

Haye didn't play in the last game against Carolina. Sims started in his place and is supposed to be a pretty good backup.

he's a defensive lineman that was cut by the Chiefs....not sure how that = 'pretty good backup' You could say, he was supposed to be good at one time, but I'm pretty sure the Chiefs run D was a doormat the entire time he was thereedited, he was traded not cut and took a huge paycut in order to not be cut...

This is why I love these forums. You guys help out with so much of this info that gets unnoticed by the major press. No way guys in my league are up to date with this.

So you like Turner's matchup with Tampa less after seeing Tampa give up nearly 300 yards rushing?
Sharks indeed...
I wouldn't say less is appropriate but it's certainly reasonable to assume that a normally tough defense like Tampa will come out with their best effort after being embarrassed on national TV like that. They've been a very tough D against the run all year; last night was most likely an anamoly and those don't usually repeat themselves in the NFL.
Let's not forget that earlier this season, they gave up 183 rushing yards to the Chiefs on the road.
For those of you still contemplating this Tampa actually gives up 70 rushing ypg more on the road than they do at home. And they haven't really played dominant rushing attacks in the Saints, Bears, Broncos, Cowboys, Chiefs, Lions and Panthers. If you take those teams average rushing ypg vs their rushing yards when they played the Bucs, they averaged 36 more yards in their matchup with the Bucs than their season average. The only 2 teams to not match their average were Denver (106 vs the Bucs, 113 average) and Dallas (70 vs 111). Denver was close and Dallas played that game without Tony Romo so their offense was anemic. After looking more into this, Turner playing the Tampa defense doesn't really seem like a scary matchup at all...

:wall: Starting Turner with confidence!

Sitting CJ3 this week for Portis. I'll take the 2 RBs that will get over 20 carries thank you very much.

With the Fred Taylor and Greg Jones news, I'm seriously considering benching Turner in favor of MJD in a non-ppr league. Talk me out of it please.

Jaguars are in disarray. Matt Jones is finally serving his suspension and the receiving game will take a significant hit without him. Jags are hosting the Packers. Ryan Grant is trying to meet a yardage incentive clause in his contract. Rasheed Mathis is done for the year so Rodgers will throw for 300/3. Falcons are at the other end of the spectrum with a great passing game and a great running game. They are in a dogfight for division or wildcard. Turner is a 20+ touch guy week in / week out and is #2 in the league in total TDs.MJD is a good runner, but this is not a hard decision IMO.

I'm not going to suddenly expect a monster game, but very nice analysis nonetheless.

Expecting a ho-hum Turner performance of 80/TD I hope is enough to want to start him for most of you.

Well well well, Guess I was wrong. Thanks for bringing this up.

In the 2 leagues that I have Turner, I started him in 1 and benched him in 1.

I really meant to bench him in both but didn't get a chance to make the change.

The one that I left him in, well today was the championship and thanks to leaving him in, I won the game.

The game where I benched him, I still won the game.

GL to all
