I Desperately Need a DL or DE. (1 Viewer)

I am in the midst of a dynasty keeper league, that includes defense. The defensive scoring is: 4 points for forced fumbles, interceptions and sacks, 2 points for fumble recoveries and passes defenses, 1 point for tackles and assists.I am the only team right now with just one DL/DE and need to pick one with my current pick. Here are my choices, and who should I take:John Abraham (NYJ; has fallen due to last season's injury and contract dispute),Rod Coleman (ATL),James Hall (DET),John Henderson (JAC),Mike Rucker (CAR; injuries are a concern), Osi Umenyiora (NYG; sleeper, and should I wait until later),Adewale Ogunleye (CHI; great 2003 season and awesome 2005 Bears defense).

To me it's a toss up between Abraham and Ogunleye. If both stay healthy I could see double digit sacks from these guys.

Thanks Slash. I just pulled the plug on Ogunleye. I like the fact that he isn't having a contract issue with his respective team and he was such a stud with Miami in 2003. Having a comparable stud on the other end (Alex Brown), like he had with Taylor, should ease some of the double-teams that he may face this season. Again, thanks for the insight.

Hard to go wrong with Ogunleye now that he's healthy. He's a top talent who had a down year and is undervalued by most right now. The Bears defensive line is quickly shaping up as one of the best in the NFL and Ogunleye should get his fair share of the stats.

I like the Bears defense altogether. They have a lot of young and veteran talent, which likely is a recipe for defensive fantasy success, both individually and as a unit. Look at the moves the Bills made last year. Although Milloy broke his forearm before the 2004 season had started, they still added enough to turn this unit in to the #2 ranked defense in the NFL, and as a fantasy defensive unit, they were spectacular. I drafted them (as a unit) in the 14th round of a re-draft league, and my fellow league-mates thought I was insane. My point is, if there are a lot of defensive studs on a defense, then that defense will most likely be a good fantasy defense. And, there will most likely be plenty of individual defensive studs which to chose from. I really like the Bears defense this year. I am now targeting DE Alex Brown and WLB Lance Briggs in my draft, but landing either of these potential studs will give me 3-4 defensive players from the Bears. Is there something in IDP fantasy land that says drafting too many defensive players from the same team isn't a wise decision?

Corelate that to having Manning, Edge and Harrison. Possibly absorb one bye week loss, then enjoy the rest. I too, am very high on the IDP's and team as well. Great value team wise, IDP wise you've just got to set your sight's on your roster needs without overlooking them. Urk-probably too high for me, Briggs is within grasp, Ogun-again good value, Brown-will fall so a great value pick. There are others, but injuries always a concern with any Bear player for some unknown reason. Go Chicago!
