Cardinals | E. James questioning why he left Indianapolis

Sun, 22 Oct 2006 21:26:49 -0700

The Associated Press reports Arizona Cardinals RB Edgerrin James is beginning to question why he left the Indianapolis Colts over the offseason. James carried the ball 13 times for 34 during the Week 7 game and has failed to top 100 rushing yards in a single game all season. "I wasn't prepared for this, man, I really wasn't. I don't know what we're doing now," said James.

If anyone really thinks its about anything more than money for these guys they have to be kidding themselves.

I don't get why Edge is crucified for taking the money and running. Kimo left the Steelers for the Jets -- does he not care about winning?

When Karl Malone goes to the Lakers, people say he's just trying to go to a great team to win a championship.

Can someone please explain the rules on when it's ok to leave a good team for a bad team? Isn't this the sport that claims to have parity? And don't we complain when people like Eli Manning don't want to go to the Chargers because they're not a winning organization?

How do you hate on Eli and Edge? Not directed at you rangerforme, but the Edge jealousy is really out of what.

I have no problem with Edge taking the money. RBs have a short career already and sometimes you have to get what you can. He played by the rules. He played hard while under contract with the COlts.

But for him to question why he went to Arizona, or ask why he's there -- whell he has only one answer. . .

HE TOOK THE MONEY.

My only problem is that he shouldn't complain about the situation he found himself in. THe Cardinals are what he thought they were -- a lousy run blocking team.

I don't hate on Edge.He is who we thought he was!
:goodposting: Exactly Edge is a very talented RB who was in an immensely talented offensive system which made him a great back. Now he is running behind an offensive line that can only be described as below average on a good day and is having to fight off opponents even before he gets to the LOS. I still believe that Edge is a rare talent but the Card's OL will be his downfall.

LOL, nice. Speculatory question here - I wonder how would Edge have been if he started with the Cardinals as opposed to the Colts?
See Jones, Thomas; Hearst, Garrison.
:goodposting: No, great posting. How many RBs have excelled in lousy situations? Barry Sanders comes immediately to mind; Faulk did OK with the Colts. I'm sure there are others, but generally talent at RB can't overcome multiple offensive - especially OL - deficiencies. Edge took the money, with everything that came along with it.

(Indy homer here). Edge has always needed a decent 'hole' (did I just say that? :bag: ) I think he has lost just a bit of his 'burst'. Having said that, he is still very talented, still does well blocking, etc. I think he's just one of those RBs that needs at minimum, decent blocking to be effective (most do). Indy was probably that minimum. If the Cardinals thought he could single-handedly turn the team around, they were foolish. They need to get him some blocking for their investment to pay dividends. If they don't, he'll be the scapegoat. If they do, I think they make at least a little 'noise'.

LT was performing at a high level before the Bolts got their offense squared away as well.As for Edge, I agree that he has every right to go where he can make the most cash, but it is in poor taste to then complain about the team around you. Bear in mind that most people predicted Arizona as an offensive juggernaut this year and maybe Edge believed that as well. He's disappointed and I think an average RB at this point in his career, but he has the cash and that should help him wipe away the tears he sheds from losing.

Most of these guys also have massive egos - and not in the TO/CJ 'look at me' mold. They truly believe they are the ones that can make the difference and put a team over the top. That's a large part of what made them good football players, but it also causes them to lose sight of the team aspect of the game.

Aerosmith - Livin' On The Edge Lyrics

There's somethin' wrong with the world today

I don't know what it is

Something's wrong with our eyes

We're seein' things in a different way

And God knows it ain't his

It sure ain't no surprise

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

There's somethin' wrong with the world today

The light bulb's gettin dim

There's meltdown in the sky

If you can judge a wise man

By the color of his skin

Then mister you're a better man than I

[Chorus:]

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself at all

Livin' on the edge

You can't stop yourself from fallin'

Livin' on the edge

Tell me what you think about your sit-u-a-tion

Complication - aggravation

Is getting to you

If chicken little tells you that the sky is fallin'

Even if it wasn't would you still come crawlin'

Back again

I bet you would my friend

Again & again & again & again & again

Tell me what you think about your sit-u-a-tion

Complication - aggravation

Is getting to you

If chicken little tells you that the sky is fallin'

Even if it was would you still come crawlin'

Back again

I bet you would my friend

Again & again & again & again

Something right with the world today

And everybody knows it's wrong

But we can tell 'em no or we could let it go

But I'd would rather be a hanging on

[Chorus]

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Livin' on the edge

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

[Chorus]

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself

You can't help yourself

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself at all

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself

You can't help yourself

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself

You can't help yourself

Livin' on the edge

You can't help yourself from fallin'

ETA: Someone should take Arizona lowlights and this song and make a video for YouTube.

THATS CLEVER

Like others above, I have no problem with Edge taking the Bidwell's money.

As a Cardinal fan (really hard to say some days), I was glad to have him here, BUT the whining  yesterday and today is not a class act - he should just shut his piehole or stuff some more gold in there and cash his check with a smile. It is LUDICROUS for him to say that he "can't figure out what is wrong". Does he not know how to read stats from last year showing Arizona to be the the absolute worst in rushing in the NFL?

He may also need to hire someone to teach him how to watch game film :bag: - he said yesteday after the game that before he signed the contract he watched film of the Cardinals last year and saw "lots of 6 man fronts" - not sure what he really expected against a team last in rushing and first in passing.
