I GUARANTEE an Eagles win this week. (1 Viewer)

For the record, I am a fan of neither. However, I am a "reformed" compulsive gambler...aren't we all? As such, I follow it, and this is my first 5-Star play of the year. First of all, it is wise to wait and see a month of football before you go big. Well, we're here. And I've seen enough. :boxing: Being an avid contrarian, this line wreaks of hype...on both sides of the ball. The Dallas Bandwagon Train has left the terminal...sold-out. We love you, Bill... Whereas, the birds that used to flock together are nowhere to be found...dissention, I say! Only a month ago Philly, would have been favored by 5 or 6 going into little 'd'. Now, not only were they only laying 1, but the herd is betting the cowgirls. I see today we're down to a pick em'. :excited: That's it...I'm in.Have fun getting yards, Mr. average-back Hambrick. And when did Quincy become Donovan...and Carter become McNabb? Did I miss something? How quickly we forget. There are more Rush fans than I thought...The Eagles fly south, to their recent home away from home, to comfortably nest and lay some turds on Bill's new dye job. While the Dallas Bandwagon Train, about to leave the station, stops for "fans" to get off... Bill is great, but not a miracle worker...not in one month. Next year.Philly is not nearly as bad as everyone WANTS to think. And don't worry, I'll bump this either way. My self-imposed banishment will be for one week...not including lurking. No posts for a week! I ask for nothing in return...only gratitude. ;)

I am a Dallas homer since about 1965, when I was 10 (geezer alert). Before the sason started I saw no way we could win more than 7 games.Several weeks ago I would have thought "no way" Dallas could win this game. But Phil has beat their butts publicly and thoroughly for about 5 years now. Phil has been playing way below their skill level and Dallas is playing way above theirs. I think there is a 50/50 shot that trend will continue and Dallas wins. One of my favorite indicators when gambling is emotion. I think Dallas may have that n spades this weekend.

Hehe banish yourself from the board....................until you create a NEW ID! :P
My word is good.I will not post. However, if there is a better way to prove to you my conviction on this game, please advise.Put your money on Philly.

Hmmm....well I'm the biggest Cowboy homer in the world. I've been a fan for better than 20 years and am very impressed with what the Tuna has brought to the table....BUT....I have a weird feeling Tha Birds are gonna show how far the Cowboys still have to go before reaching the Promised Land.Give the Cowboy fans a break though....its been awhile since we've had something to get excited about other than Jerrys hairpiece!

Totally agree with this statement. Especially because the "matchups" everybody tries to analyze have already been done so by professionals...thus, the opening line. It's rare you find something they don't.There is no bigger fallacy than when a player is out and people jump on the other team because of it. That missing player has already been factored in the line. Unless, of course, it's a late-breaking story...which is rare.Well, I believe the emotion and Tuna Effect on Dallas' side have been factored into the line. That's why Philly is not favored. That is, the time to bet on that, without paying for it in the line, was the first few games....BEFORE people started believing....BEFORE they started winning.Dallas is now valued fully on the emotion/Tuna side, so to speak. By the end of the year, you will be paying a premium for Bill's team.

i'm sure we could convince Shick! to do a quick IP banning that should take care of him. ;)

here's to hoping that Philly gets beat :banned: ;)
Finally. It took too many posts to get someone to say that.If you want to buy more :banned: , and be the cool guy buying rounds for your friends Sunday afternoon, that everybody wants to talk to because you're so smart and know football...then bet Philly.Cinderella is about to lose a slipper.

Sonny...good idea! The Birds will win. I don't even think a special teams fluker play would be enough to put the boys over the top. Here's to hoping the line stays a pick. I'm all over it! Also like the over in the Saints/Bears dogbowl.

Fine by me.That's a good idea. Tell shick, Shuke!, or whoever -- to do it. :excited: Wait, will I be able to lurk?
I haven't banned an IP for at least.....well, a few hours actually, but I'm your guy.

Sonny,This weeks lines don't look to enticing, but there is one exception. Dallas -1 against Philly  I totally agree with you, Philly should win this game period. To be given a point seals the deal.Every year theres a few teams that come out of the gates playing above their heads.. usually it's Minnesota and the Chargers. Then in mid October their true colors start to show. Insert Dallas here.Give me Philly and the point all the way to the bank!Good call Sonny.

Then again, last week I took Oakland -4, Tennesee -1, and Minnesota -4 in a 3 team parlay. I thought for sure those were the locks of the week. I was crying all the way to the bank.

I am in 100% full agreement that this is . . . . .wait for it . . . . .guaranteed to get Sonny gone . . . . . it's coming . . . . . .Here it is: Philly over Dallas, even odds, is a MORTAL LOCK!!

Dude - you set yourself up for it. No worries - someone SAYING a game is a mortal lock to tease you, and betting on it BECAUSE it is a mortal lock are two different things to the karma gods.I won't be gambling this week, nor did I make the prediction except in fun. It is an EXCELLENT bet this week, though, and if I were gambling, I'd bet it straight. I'd also have it contained within at least two other two game parlays to try and maximize my take on the game.Yes, the boys have a good chance to screw up your weekend and your ability to post here in the future, and, yes, we're on fine terms.

I was being sarcastic....really. ;) I thought your post was hilarious. All my friends enjoy "locking" a nervous gambler...especially on a game with his nuts on the line. Unless it's crunch time, with sweat dripping...then, it's not cool...and can lead to :boxing: Anyway, no worries, whatsoever. Eagles will still win.

Here's to hopin Pinkston finally shows up and makes that draft pick worthwhile.then again, I am an Eagles fan

I'm rooting for Dallas on Sunday more than I was rooting for Oakland in the Super Bowl last year! Hopefully, this one turns out a bit better. :bag:

Oh you poor babies. You haven't won the super bowl since WAY back in 1995! 8 years! Haven't made the playoffs since 1999! 4 years ago! You poor, long-suffering cowboys fans never catch any breaks.I think I just found a new team to despise.

Join one of many then.Sonny, when the Cowboys win, you can come and lurk around in some of my posts all week long. If you're nice, maybe I'll PM you or something. Go Cowboys!!!!!!By the way, didn't you look at the GAME PREDICTOR, it shows the COWBOYS will win by just about 2. You're out of here Pal!

Its as bad as saying the Yankees haven't won a World Series in 3 years.. Lets all feel sad. :)

At least they've done it with a salary cap, not by out-spending the GNP of several small countries

Who cares? They win, just like the Yankees do. If someone doesn't like it, then do something about it. All these crybabies making excuses on why they don't win every year.I don't complain that the Cowboys haven't done squat the past few years and will struggle to earn a playoff spot this year. You've got to enjoy the good years when you have them because they can go quickly away and you never know how long it willl take to get it back.Look at the 85 Bears. The looked so great. They haven't done anything in nearly 20 years.

I have thought about this question. As a Dallas fan, what am I most scared of happening and Dallas not being able to stop. The answer is No.4. Dallas must be able to stop McNabb from scrambling and picking up easy 3rd downs. They need to keep him in the pocket and force him to throw. If they lose containment, they will lose. All week that must be the focus of the Dallas front line.

While I think Dallas is far from being a "real" .750 team, I think the Eagles were vastly overrated this year.I think that the Cowboys offense looks more organized every week, and blitz-pickup seems to be something that Hambrick is becoming a specialist at.If Carter has time to set up and look downfield, that is his strength, and I see a big day from him - if the seemingly organized line and blitz pickup by Hambrick holds true to recent form. And, beating the Foreskins doesn't impress me much. The Iggles haven't shown anything yet this year. Their RBBC and worthless receivers make McNabb look pretty average, and Dallas has a very solid defense. I see a lot of intangibles on the Cowboys' side too. Emotion, revenge, coaching and even momentum.I see it as a pick em at best. Putting a self-imposed ban on the line for a game that looks this even doesn't really make much sense to me.

That's the point. If I did it on a big favorite, it woudn't be saying much. The irony here is that I'm a HUGE Tuna fan...but, hate the Cowboys.Going into the year, I had Hambrick moved up on my board and targeted the Cowyboys D, saying they finish the year in the top 5.Point is, I have no bias in this pick. It's just the first game I see a good line on, in my opinion. With that being said, while they are making progress, they are not there, yet. I think the Eagles are still the better team. And they have owned Dallas.Everyone talks about Dallas with momentum and motivation, now. True, but THAT IS WHY THE LINE ISN'T PHILLY - 3 OR 4. You are paying for it, already...it's not an "edge".What about Philly? Think they don't need this? They know it's huge. :football:

Philly will win b/c the Philly D will be able to hold the 'boys to 13 points or less. Hambrick won't get more than 50 yards, and Q won't throw for more than 225 yards.Philly will win b/c they will be able to win the field position battle, the time of possession battle, and because the 'boys D will allow at least 13 points - McNabb's legwork alone will account for 2 field goals and maybe a TD.Philly will win, by an unimpressive score of 17-13, or 15-13 (5 field goals), but they will win.And that is all that matters to Sonny. BTW - I agree with most everything said here - the Eagles are overrated, the Tuna's impact on the team is underrated, the 'boys O looks good, the Philly O looks horrible and out of synch, etc.One iof the most telling things to me is that the HBO folks on Inside the NFL all, unanimously, call for Dallas to win - that is almost a sure thing that Philly will win.

Sonny, I love the bold prediction and stepping out on a limb!!! I also have the same feeling as you. Neither a Cowboys or Iggles fan but I have a feeling the Iggles can pull this out.

I don't understand what punishment you are taking for being wrong. If you are wrong you won't want to post here for a week anyway.

I think the Eagles are still the better team. And they have owned Dallas.
They may or may not be the better team, but the flaw in your thinking is that they owned Dave Campo and Chan Gailey, not "Dallas." As a Tuna fan, you ought to know that! With the parity in this league, the difference between a good and bad team is usually coaching and/or a handful of playmakers. Not trying to talk you out of it, but trying to know the difference between good and bad in today's NFL is a tough thing to be this sure about.

Well, I happen to think they ARE the better team, still. And to think that they have owned Dallas is not "flawed". The fact that Tuna (who does make a difference -- that's why the line is not @ 4), is there now, does not take away the fact that most of these same players have been beat up by Philly.Conversely, Philly HAS to have confindence vs. a team they beat 6 straight times. You can't tell me that, in sports, that is not a psychological advantage. :football:

Smlevin wasn't the jinx here I was...special teams fluker play...what a quote? DOOOOOOOOUY!I believe I believe I believe, we'll come back! :excited:

Your thread title is misleading, because doing what you just said above is WEAK compared to truely banishing yourself. Are you that addicted that one week away from this forum (and you're not even leaving, you're just not posting) is even a punishment? I'd consider it doing yourself a favor.

Sonny Lubick Bobblehead Doll -- banished you are for one week. McNabb is counterfeit, my 'Boys are back, and Parcells is my absolutely favorite homo... :excited:

Show me a man who wagers a lot of his money on a football game because he "knows" who will win, and I will show you a man with a gambling problem.

I'd rather Sonny just stuck around and took the abuse. What does a banishment do? Can you say "alias"....

Just stick around Sonny and take the abuse (what comes around goes around) - the Eagles do play the Cowboys again.
