I just made a trade ..I feel bad now... (1 Viewer)

So earlier today ...about 5 pm I made a trade and gave up Travis Henry and Santonio Holmes

for Palmer and then sent Palmer & Kevin Curtis for Dallas Clark and Kevin Jones.

The guy I sent Palmer to needed a qb so that's fine.

THe guy I sent Henry to ...well his best player was Palmer (the owner's first year playing fantasy).

Now I just logged on the internet..FIRST TIME TODAY and read that Henry busted with POT??

I feel really bad now and I am trying to call the commish to see if he will give me Henry back and I send the owner Portis instead.

Would you feel bad or just say screw it??

Again, I did not know about Henry's pot trouble until now!

**Edit**

THis league is not very HIGH on yards. We are basically a TD league only. And here's as to why I did the trade.

Palmer - our league gives out 3 pts per passing td and passing yards of 300+ are only 3 pt bonus

and the guy that I traded Palmer to has Brees and Cutler so he needed a better qb.

The guy that I traded Henry to, HAD Palmer, Holt, Droughns and Graham and Brandon Jackson as his RB's.

I figured, I had the right pieces that could help both teams improve and also improve my depth at rb/wr (we play wr/te flex)

I'd sleep better at night if I tried to undo it.

I wouldn't worry about because you didn't know about the Henry situation. What puzzles me is you traded T. Henry and Santonio Holmes for Dallas Clark and Kevin Jones? Worked out for you knowing the Henry situation but were you THAT needy of a TE? Too bad for the newbie. He'll realize that this crazy game never works out the way you want.

had this offer on the table from 2 days ago in a dynasty league

i give harrison

i get young and Jarrett

i accepted it but the site will not let it go thru because it will make my roster over the roster limit

Very commendable of you, but I since you didnt know about the Henry situation (and we still don't know the outcome yet), you should not feel ethically obligated for trading 'damaged goods'. From a fantasy point of viewa, you definitely are not obligated to give up Portis.

If YOU want to offer the guy Portis for Henry in a seperate trade, it is your right to do so. You should definitely set a short time limit for him to respond to your trade offer.

(BTW, most would be extatic to their fortunate timing of getting rid of Henry).

Are you CRYING????? There`s no crying in fantasy football !!!!!!

This trade was finalized BEFORE the news came public.

No need to reverse this deal.

I would feel a little bad though.

If you didn't know, then don't worry about it. No reason you should get stuck with a goose egg for something beyond your control. You both didn't check the news, one of you struck out the other hit a homer. That's the way things go sometimes.

If you made the trade before knowledge of the news breaking, there ain't much you should feel bad about - OK, at least enough to overturn the deal. I traded for Ricky Williams about two days before he absolutely flaked out after an outstanding previous season. The guy I made the deal with is a great friend, but at no point in time did I expect him to overturn the deal and send me back all the players ([groan] and picks) I gave him in that deal as I knew he made that deal in the same faith I made it, and these are the risks one takes when trading for guys "in the program".

Move on. Your leaguemates may beat you up a bit but they too will live through this. Besides, you've already spun the web further and wider making deal #2.

 so drop a player.

It's really a tougher ethical question than it seems at first blush, b/c the guy getting screwed is a newbie and it may leave him feeling bitter about the whole thing. On the flip side, he needs to learn eventually that 75% of Fantasy football is feeling screwed over. If he loves the game, he'll stick with it regardless, so I would go to sleep with a clear conscience.

So you got bent over on a trade, and you feel bad?

You got hosed, on every deal. I wouldn't trade Holmes for KJ/Clark.

Taking the ethics a little further....What if a team that has a higher WW position and has Henry but they are 1-3 and just lost Caddy and I know these guys are probably not going to get the news before the deadline tonight even though it's listed on CBS already. Would you tip them off? Shark move or collusion knowing that the teams ahead of you are sure to pounce.

Would you have felt bad if the trade were made last night? You knew just as much this afternoon as you did last night. It is what it is...

For some perspective - a buddy of mine traded Priest Holmes away the morning of the day they announced he was done...he was as happy as could be...

That's an excellent one. On the one hand it looks like smart diplomacy, but on the other hand there is a notion, sometimes codified, that owners are not to collude. I think you need to erase from your head the waiver leader's loss of Henry and Caddy for the year, these are ethical red herrings. I've tipped other owners off as to potential wire pickups to expedite a deal I'm making with them and didn't feel guilty in the least; this seems similar enough that I would go ahead and do it.

If you knew about this before the trade shame on you. If not, sleep well, neither of you knew, #### happens. I am in 2 leagues with several of the teams in each league. One owner traded for Cadillac in both league just prior to the injury. Sucks, but that is part of the game, we'll buy him a six pack of Sam Adams. It is just like owning Steve Smith with Carr as QB. :banned:

I'm viewing it as self-preservation. The guy just ahead of me (this weeks foe) has SJax & Maroney, he picked up Brian Leonard last and is certain to grab Selvin unless "the Henry team" gets him first. Oddly enough, I traded Caddy to "the Henry team" last week.

I don't see anything wrong with tipping off the other owner.

So assuming you really didn't know about the pot issue, you in essence traded T.Henry (the leading rusher in the NFL), S.Holmes, and K.Curtis for Clark and K.Jones? That has to be some of the worst trading I've seen. Makes me think you really had heard about Henry and you raked over the newbie and are now feeling guilty about it.

i'd feel badly about it, and i'd probably e-mail the other owner to let him know i feel badly about it, but what can you do?

i traded hunter pence for jake peavy in my baseball league this year and the next day pence was on the DL for like 6 weeks. i apologized to the other owner, and i said i didn't think the injury was that serious. he agreed and we moved on.

buyer beware.

I traded Maroney for Fitz to a team last week who was very desperate for RBs. Only RB they had to play was Norwood, everyone else was injured or on BYE. Literally the next day, he's limited in practice, and it just went downhill from there as we all now know. I offered to reverse the trade(I'm the commish) as soon as I found out Maroney was dinged up, cause I honestly did not know, there had been NUTIN to that point that he was hurt. They said no thanks, he'll prolly be allright.

I offered yet again right before MNF kickoff, when we all had heard that he was scratched. They said something that applies directly here. "This could happen with any player at any time, so there's no blame and no need for guilt. #### happens!" That trade stood, and I'm enjoying Larry Fitzgerald with a clean conscience.

I know this is a baseball situation, but it applies. I traded Jason Kendall who was going off that year. He was a 3 tool player at the time. Hr's Sb's, Avg all at the Catcher position. The next day he broke his leg and was done. Yes, I felt bad, but there was no way I was going to take him back. It happens, even if you knew about the drug situation, he needs to do his own work. If this guy tries to blame youo, nobody else will, this guy if he makes a stink will look like the stinker.

I think it’s commendable that you want to rectify the situation. I too would personally feel bad. I hope the commish makes the adjustment. However trading

Palmer & Kevin Curtis for Dallas Clark and Kevin Jones is the real problem. I mean ‘throwing in’ Curtis to sweeten the pot is one masochistic move indeed. That trade is stranger that the original (imo) Tough call.

Good luck, keep us posted how it turns out

Yeah, your anal passage should be hurting more than your conscience after getting bent over for Palmer.

Besides, Henry hasn't been suspended. The positive test was 2 weeks ago, who says this won't drag out further?

Your edit doesn't even say how you helped your team, if I'm reading correctly.

Basically traded Henry (who might not even be done), Holmes and Curtis for Clark and Jones. Makes no sense.
