I love BMW NA (1 Viewer)

I can't believe this, but it just happened... Got a call from the BMW sales guy that sent me to Lake Placid to go bobsledding with the US Olympic team. This time I'm getting to drive the new m4 http://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/m4 at NHMS with professional instruction from BMW pros. Eventually I'll get to go solo too!

Very psyched and am looking forward to comparing my lap times with what I turned with my 1986 120ish h.p. lemons car.

Woo Hoo

I have the opposite feelings for BMW San Antonio. Holy #### what a bunch of douchebags.

I don't have high expectations for dealerships, but sweet baby jesus they are awful to deal with and incompetent to boot.

I did get to see Iron Man 3 early because of them, however... totally worth the $67k and way better than bobsledding and test driving cars on closed tracks. :sadbanana:

I got the same kind of service from the bentley dealership. I highly recommend people to consider a bentley when looking at cars.

I had purchased a BMW new, every time I took it to the service shop, I found out that BMW stands for BRING MORE MONEY

I work with a guy who bought a 5 series, which was insured for driving in Germany. Followed this, and took it for a spin on the autobahn, took it back to the BMW factory, and had it shipped to his local BMW dealer.

I'm still jealous, so awesome.

The event was mehh at best. No M4's or M3's. ("they are behind in production"). But we did have one M5 and 3 M6's to drive around a 30 second autocross. We only got to drive the M cars (all autos)around the super tight autocross track with all driver aids on. The cars were sluggish and the tires were not allowed to be properly inflated for HP driving. The cars felt

less than spectacular.

They then let us go out in groups of 3 behind an instructors car, around the road course (6&7 series cars). All cars needed to maintain a 2 car gap between the car in front of them. If the gap was to big or to small the instructor drove slower... One pair in our group was not what they advertised themselves to be so we suffered. We turned laps 7- 15 seconds slower than our 28 yo $500- LEMONS CAR.

We then were allowed to ride along with the proffessionals driving for 2 "hot laps". We drove in $100k 5 and 6 series M cars(500+hp). They did beat the lap times of our $500- (120hp in 1986) car by 1.5 whole seconds! The professional driver worked for the Richard Petty driving experience. He had no idea what the proper line around this road course was. Nice people, but not who should've been hosting this event.

If I am invited next year I would go. But if I had to pay for this "experience" my top $ amount I'd pay is $50-.

Glad I did this, but still disappointed. The cars came off as unresponsive and the experience as a whole was mehh.

Damn shame because this could/should have been so much more.

I'm not following this. You took your own car there? Or they let you drive a new M4 with training wheels, and then let you drive an old beater with no training wheels?
We (my team) http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=670109 built a "$500- race car". We raced it last fall on the same track as this BMW event. Our best lap time was 1:30. we didn't have our car at this event but if we did I'd bet it would've been considerably faster thru the autocross due to it's size and weight.

There were no M3's or M4's for us to drive.

We did get to drive one M5 and 3 M6's (all automatics) on an very tight autocross course (pylons in a parking lot). The cars were less than impressive in that format.

On the race track we drove 640's, 650's, and 750's (V12). But we had to follow the instructors who were driving the M5's and M6's. Our best time 1:36.9 was limited by the "instructor" we had to follow.

Before this event a friend had attended an event for Nissan (GTR). He warned me that they might do this. He also suggested that I pass the instructor and see what happens. If I wasn't somewhat friends with the sales guy that invited me to this event, I might've.
