I love this time of year (1 Viewer)

For those of you in dynasty leagues, you might think that now is a terrible time to start talking trade. You might think the season just finished, and folks want to watch the real NFL playoffs and give fantasy a break until after the NFL draft. That's certainly true of some owners in some leagues, but I guarantee you, you'll never get better deals than right now if you start flinging offers out. There's a lot of folks out there who are already excited by the prospect of next season and want to bring in fresh players, or who are fed up of the players that have been on their roster all year. Now is the time to strike, to prepare for the 2006 season!

:goodposting: dynasty season never ends

one interesting player that can go either way next year is Frank Gore. I have already had interest in him from other teams but am unsure what i should be able to get for him. He will be an interesting one to see what you can get for him because he has very good upside yet unsure if it will happen in 2006.

I'm looking at shopping Alge Crumpler around right now given his big year. I just have a bad feeling about Vick and Mora & Co. If I can get decent value, and I've had some interest, I'll go with Troupe, whom I just acquired. I really think he could take another big step forward next year.

Sell Chris Perry if you have him. Larry Johnson's emergence has pushed Perry's value way higher than I think it should be given the contracts for him and Rudi plus Perry's injuries.

tick, what does larry johnson's emergence have to do with chris perry and rudi johnson. not sure i followis it because people will look at his situation with priest as one with perry/rudi?

not Tick, but i think he is saying now that lj erupted - it will be common for former first rounders stuck in a bad situation to do the same.

Yes. Former first round pick who hasn't played much. I've seen LJ's name thrown around a lot in reference to Perry. Lamont Jordan is another example used - maybe you'll have to sit on Perry for awhile, but at some point he'll explode! There's more risk with Perry than some people are admitting IMO. I think his value is higher right now than it should be, making it a good sell time.

So what level of player, or draft pick(s), should we expect to receive for Perry? Assume Zealots league to makes things easy.

I had Perry and Rudi in one of my dynasty leagues. I need a QB after Culpepper got hurt. I traded Perry and my 1st round pick(ended up being the #7 pick for Brees. To me Perry is a 3rd down RB and a change of pace back. Rudi is solid just look at his #s for the past 2 year.

I think Perry and Gore are good BUY candidates depending on how high their owner is on them.

Really, you like Gore? NahhhhhBut, really, what would you give up for Perry or Gore?

Any idea thoughts on Reggie Brown's value? What kind RB or QB could this guy get in return?

I agree :goodposting: Here are some of the deals I have pulled off during the off-season in my main dynasty league. Players that have a down year are great targets.

After the 2002 season

Traded J. Smith and my 6th rookie pick for S. Davis. David signed with Carolina and had a great season.

After the 2003 season

Traded David, Keyshun and the 8th rookie pick for Horn and the #2 rookie pick (drafted K. Jones). Horn had his best season in 2004 and I won the Superbowl

I think vet players like Horn, Martin (if he comes back), Dillon and Green could be had cheep this off-season. And young players like K. Jones who under preformed in 2005.

Who do you think are great targets for trading for in a dynasty league?

Depends on the league. In a RB-starved 14-teamer, I might be willing to give a little more. Otherwise, figure a mid-level QB or receiver. I might even go so far as to offer a guy like Burress for Gore. Also, I believe Gore has more value than Perry at this point, since he is in a better position to have a starting job next year.

Hey Dynasty Guys (my target audience)...

Can I get a little help here?

TIA!
I'm a process control engineer, not a process engineer, so while I could understand what's talked about and give some input, I'm not an expert. In other words, wrong link.
On closer inspection, I think a process control engineer fits the job description better than a process engineer. Maybe I'll put in for it.

A few ideas, off the top of my head:D-JAX: injured-wrecked season but should return to being a top 10 WR next season, you should be able to get him relatively cheapNAJEH DAVENPORT: I think this guy could easily be the next Lamont Jordan, he has unbelievable size and speedJJ ARRINGTON: He can't be this bad. They improve their line next season, he could be a factor.NATE BURLESON: See D-Jax.MCNABB: Should rebound next year.CHARLES ROGERS: Great talent, could thrive under new coach.RON DAYNE: Could be the starter in Denver next season.TROY WILLIAMSON: Underachieved in rookie year, owner may already be fed up with him.LEE SUGGS: Got to like this talent, worth picking up if you don't overpay for him.Guys to trade away (this is not rocket science)STEPHEN DAVISCURTIS MARTINPRIEST HOLMESKEYSHAWN JOHNSONTERRY GLENNJOE HORNMARSHALL FAULK, DUCE STALEY, JEROME BETTIS, BRETT FAVRE (obviously)DOMANICK DAVIS (if Bush is drafted)MIKE ANDERSON (if you get good value for him, he's old)
