At Macy's last week I bought a Calvin Klein sportcoat for $119 and matching dress pants for $49 (black). These are their everyday prices so I'm sure you could go there right now and get the same. I took the sportcoat to a tailor ($90) and my wife hemmed the pants. So basically a custom fit suit for under $300.

I have a Macy's suit I bought relatively inexpensively. It's not bad. It's not as nice as some suits but it's decent.

Bar iii is a good suit for the money at Macys

If you dont have time to wait for sales and a limited budget, Suit Supply is the shark move and will only run you $5-600. If you have a couple of extra bucks to spend, Im sure I can find some links for some decent Dior and Brioni varieties.
