I need to lose weight (1 Viewer)

Cut out soda and sweets. Control portions. Shop on the perimeter of the grocery store and stay away from the prepared stuff in the middle as much as possible. Stop eating when you're full. One "trick" I did was to eat the healthiest thing on my plate first so that it was the mashed potatoes left behind and the end of the meal and not the broccoli. You have to give up the temporary concept of a diet and embrace permanent changes to your eating habits. I went from 215 to 175 following this basic outline, still drinking beer and eating cheese and bacon the whole time.
215?Holy ####.
Really? 215 is that bad?

Just put the twinkie down and walk away.

I'm always accused of giving my opinion too much. Now I'm asking for advice, and it will be appreciated.

I would like to lose 40-50 pounds of weight, and keep it off. I exercise plenty (treadmill 5 days a week), but I sabotage myself with my eating habits. I have tried Weight Watchers and other similar diets, but my problem is I get too hungry, and I end up cheating and disliking myself later on. I need to learn about tasty foods that are easy to purchase and cook that will fill me up so I don't get hungry later.

I have lost weight in the past, but it always comes back rather quickly. I am a sucker for meat, cheese, and just about everything fattening.

General or specific advice is fine. I'm not diabetic, but I know that if I continue at this weight there's a good chance I will be. High cholesterol count is also a problem.

TIA
Update?

Really would be interested in an update. I have been bouncing back and forth in my weight loss attempts and you started this thread almost 6 years ago, but didn't continue it for some reason, just curious if you were able to meet your goal.

Replace 2 or 3 days of treadmill with lifting weights.

Eat 5 or 6 small meals a day. Avoid junk food, sugar, and soda pop. Concentrate on lean proteins, veggies, and "good" carbs (whole grains, not refined white flour products).

Stop drinking beer and replace it with vodka and sodas.
Lots of tribal pseudo-science in this post.

You might be doing the treadmill wrong, you have to shoot for 1000-1250 calorie burn on the treadmill (one hour or so at your weight) preferably 1500 calories. If you are not feeling great that day, set a minimum amount to achieve, like 500 calories. It has to be uncomfortable too, you can't enjoy the treadmill, you have to fight the treadmill. You have to always be trying to increase speed or times or distance or incline. Otherwise your body gets in a rut and your body finds ways to do the workout too efficiently. This is the main problem I see with people at the gym, they go way too easy. I burn calories at 2x the rate of most people on the treadmill and I've never had weight problems, always sticking around 200 lbs. Also, never support your weight in any way while running.

With regards to food, for starters limit alcohol to one drink a day and throw out carbs like chips and processed bread.

Tim probably couldn't think of anything to say.

You already have the base for a pretty good diet with that meat and cheese stuff. If I create a diet that consists solely of Big Macs and Pepperoni Pizza yet will still achieve your weight goals, would that be of interest to you?

Burn 1000-1500 calories in 1 session? That's a ton

My guess is Tim lost an inch of height and currently weighs in the 235-250 range.

My guess would be over 250 lbs, but we will never know since he refuses to give an update.

Now I think I understand why the guy posts so much. He lives in LA and is morbidly obese. In LA we shun the fatties, hell, we even openly discriminate against them. Not saying it's right, it's just a fact. You're better off being an illegal immigrant than a fattie in LA.

Poor guy, he's lonely for human interaction.

Yeah, pretty much everything in there is terrible advice. I'm just going to assume that he hates Tim and wants to see him hurt.

Pay up, deadbeat!

I'll race Tim for it. 1 lap around the track. If Tim wins I'll pay him $1,000 American dollars. Hell, I'll even dress up like a Hot Dog to complete the image.

Why would anyone believe this? POS welcher.
