Going to test this out for a month. See how lost I can become on current events. I will avoid all major news sources such as newspapers, online newspapers, major portal homepages, etc...

The only news I will seek externally is sports and stock.

If anyone wants to post current events, feel free to drop it in this thread.

3/11 - Norfolk Fire Station burned down, the station didn't have sprinklers.

3/11 - Obama in NYC

3/11 - Para Olympics begin

3/11 - Man in Alaska arrested for masterbating in public while impersonating Bob Marley

3/12 - Explosion in Harlem building

3/12 - Still no Malaysia Airlines news

3/14 - Today is Friday/Pi Day/Steak & BJ Day

3/16 - Fred Phelps on deathbed

I think I can stay somewhat up to date on FBG - Kinda sick of the news...

This North Korea sun landing is a shocker!
Yeah there's a thread on it, which is entertaining in its own right, but glad I can help! I would say a majority of my news updates come from threads here moreso than what I search out on my own.

Been doing this for years. Ill even one-up ya. I never read any of the political threads either. There's enough spillover that I still know more than I wish I did about politics.

Do linked and cut-and-pasted articles count? If so, you'll be pretty well informed.
I want none of that... Just second hand FBG info.

I never read the political threads either... Well once in a while for entertainment.

I already get about 95% of my breaking news from here. If it's something major, there's a thread right away, and the first couple pages are usually intelligent discussion more or less. I very rarely go on the news sites anymore but have been checking updates on the plane crash. It's amazing how cluttered the Fox and CNN sites are with infotainment crap now. Not sure if it's always been that way and I'm just not used to it.

Same.I know nothing about politics, don't care about politics, and dont wanna hear or read about it or anyone's opinions on it.

:goodposting: You're really not going to miss anything significant.

In that case, you're aware that a couple of offdee 7s (hottest girl in coach or the line for the bathroom, more avionically attractive) are close to being implicated in the Malaysian mystery.

I am in the same boat as the others that already get their news from FBG.

I have not idea what's going on locally.

I have been doing this ALWAYS. And at FFToday before that. The only reason I even new about 9/11 was seeing it on here that night. I slept through the whole thing. If it's not reported in the FFA it never happened. Where the heck do you guys get the news?

If your turn on R.I. news there was a shooting in Fall River Mass almost every night in 1998. And Chris Herron.....lots of Chris Herron.

Honestly, local news is where it's at.

It's all well and good to talk about national politics, I mean who are we really affecting here?...

...but one day take a running shot at getting up to date, up to speed and totally involved in local politics. Totally different world.

Liberals becomes conservatives, Conservatives become liberals, the lines totally get flipped.

And by the way if anyone ever wants to do something about corruption in DC, it begins at home.

The Blader Runner trial is pretty interesting too.

Completely forgot about that... How long is that going to take? Where is the thread?

Explosion in Harlem building...

Without reading any news, info, or anything else - I can say with about 95% certainty this wasn't terrorism... You know why?

Because Harlem is as high on the terrorism list as Sheboygan, WI.

I've used this place as a news source off & on for years. Only other source was Yahoo's front page, but I found myself coming here for anything that piqued my interest.

A Norfolk fire station burned down.
It didn't have sprinklers or alarms.
I will be adding updates I believe are real to OP...
You were right. This is real. Can I link the article or is that not allowed?
:hifive: Nailed it... Go right ahead.
