I think my Optometrist is a creeper (1 Viewer)

FWIW I do not work at LensCrafters, and at 42 would say I am not on the back 9 of my career. I don't THINK I am a creeper, but maybe I better check. :scared:

Since it sounds like you are industry, am I wrong in thinking LensCrafters is bottom of the barrel for eye doctors?

LensCrafters? No. America's Best? You betcha. ;) Honestly, I do not want to make any snap judgements on who works for what. Gatorman works for Costco, but is also a consultant for a large contact lens company. I do not think you can make general statements, but I would say by and large those that work in retail are brand new and cannot get a job in private practice, those that have immediate financial needs and those that are less driven. In general, the immediate salary for a retail doc is higher than private practice, but it does not go up hardly at all. It stays very stagnant, while private docs have a huge ceiling if they are not creepers.

FWIW I am pretty sure most retail docs do not make 6 figures.

Did I miss the part where you explained why he was creepy?
I don't really know anything about the eye industry but my assumption is the folks that work for Lenscrafters are either just starting out before they launch their careers or they have had some type of trouble in their career, I guess I equate an older optometrist working at Lenscrafter to a priest that gets moved to a new parish after he was accused of diddling an alter boy or two.
Not sure what you're confused about. Sounds rock solid to me.
I know a few successful Optometrists who are very much at the height of their career with their own practices and put in time at LensCrafters because the pay is good and they're supplementing their income with a part time job. Optometrists make good money, but they don't make incredible money.

Is this one of those threads where the OP disappears at the end and we never find out what happened?

Thanks, pretty much as I thought. My intern will be in the office tomorrow, will look to feel him out about doing some detective work instead of putting together another Excel or PP presentation for me.

now we're talking.

let's do this.

I stand corrected.

Go back tomorrow and tell him you need your glasses adjusted. While he's looking at them, pull your dong out and start masturbating. I mean really start jerking it off. Make sure you use lots of lube. If he then starts to take his pants off, he's a creeper.

I like how you threw all optometrists that work at Lenscrafters under the bus in one swoop.

Thumbs up
Yeah that was pretty bizarre. I'm sure all those guys are still making six figures.
you think? somehow i doubt that
I would guess mid 70s but not six figures. But then again, I assume most of them don't take the job for the money but rather for the safe cover for their creepiness.

Quick Google search showed discussion where LC optometrists start out getting hourly, in the 40-50 dollar range, with complaints that they go out of their way to cap the available hours. Make of it what you will.

I completely disagree with this. Under no circumstances would I use lube in this situation.

I refuse to accept that chafing has to be part of life.

Though I applaud BS in putting in the time and setting this up prior to Friday, there is no explanation or background as to why this mall guy is creepy. This is as lame and hand-handed as it gets - what are you an engineer?

Zero backstory, zero level of clues for suspicion, and where is the danger? And who is in danger? Who are we supposed to care about here? We all know BS is not a sympathetic character. Can you at least put yourself in danger so we can decide whether you should die and disappear ala Blue Onion?

BS - you can do better than this, get some help if you really are an engineer, because if you are - this probably is your best effort.

2. I reach out to my wife's cousin's husband. He is a detective in the city where I work and he seems to have a hard on for tracking down creepers. I'm pretty sure if I give him the slightest whiff of this optometrist's butt he would be all over finding out everything about the guy. That would only require me to make a simple call but might not be fair to this eye guy to sick this dude on him without any concrete evidence.
This is a pretty disturbed phrase. Are you sure it is the optometrist that is the creepy one here?
It was quite obvious who the creeper is from the get go.

Don't hate just because you owe me $500 for losing the Tiger bet. I'm not sure what type of backstory I can give on a guy I've met twice but he comes off as a whack job perv. Beyond his weirdness there is the fact that he is in his 50s yet stationed at a LensCrafters in the mall. Other optometrists that are FBG regulars have confirmed that makes him highly unusual and suspect. Perhaps I'm wrong here but there seems to be enough red flags that I owe it to my community to find it more. Those expecting any big updates on Friday will be disappointed as my intern only works Mon, Tues and Thurs. Best case case scenario probably means field work for the intern doesn't kick off for almost a week.

Did you ever catch that peanut thief?
Never caught anything with the game cameras but we suspect that it was a raccoon. We found out later that one of my kids had spilled a crap ton of in shell peanuts in the shrubs by the front porch.

Not hating, just expressing disappointment in yet another lame Friday story attempt. But I'm not putting forth any effort there so you got me there.

Let us be clear to everyone here - I did not lose the Tiger bet. It looks bad, but Tiger has lots of time.

Far be it for me to discourage this. Be sure to reference two other optometrists that were creepers in your investigation. One who had girls take off their shirts to screen for scoliosis. Another that whacked it while giving an exam to a woman.

3. I put in some time to find out a little more about this guy. This would probably require at minimum two stake outs, one to follow him when he is out of work for the day to the parking lot to see what car he is driving and then another time to follow him home once I've been able to ID the car....

Yep. Sounds like Gatorman. Costco is just as creepy, right?

Want to see a creeper? Look in the mirror at the guy considering stalking his optomitrist on a hunch.

can I get a recap of what we've learned here so far. All I've got is:

Lenscrafters don't make 6 figures

Creepers take 3 hits with a diamond sword

Baloney Sandwich has an intern

Office Pete Malloy is still funny

By all accounts he was a nice guy. Neighbors said he was pleasant but kept to himself. They were not aware of his online sandwich persona, nor his threats of stalking a perfectly good optometrist. Even the other fantasy football nerds thought it was "shtick" when they read his manifesto. In hindsight, they were all myopic.

You are not good at this.

You want to stake the optometrist out or have some detective you know follow him around and the optometrist is the creeper in your opinion?

Hello. I work in a Costco and can tell you that many Optometrists in retail settings make well over 6 figures. Again, we can get into the nuts and bolts of the profession, but that is boring. Suffice to say it looks something like this (and it may vary depending on the state)

Private Guys who own their optical

Costco / Lenscrafters / Visionworks

Walmart / Target / Sears

JC Penny / Sams Club / BJs

America's best or any of those 2 pair of lenses and an eye exam for 69 dollar places.

I started out in a costco and made great money from the start and it only got better. I live in a saturated market (So FL) for eye doctors so walking away from this cash cow for a private practice was not in the cards.

Creepy happens in all industries, but I will say that I have fired a few of my associates over the years bc they were a little weird. Just go see someone else.

Gator

PS. Pickles> Just because I grazed your thigh once in the hot tub at Melly's does not make me creepy. I just slipped, okay? :D

Good to know, I did some internet research and was able to look him up via a state licensing site and it appears he is clean. He graduated from eye school in 2008 so perhaps this is a second profession for him. However, it almost seems like he didn't exist prior to 2008 (at least on the regular web...haven't had a chance to explore the deep web yet).
