I used to think V. Jackson or C. Benson... (1 Viewer)

Sorry for the abbreviation, Ricky Williams... damn! How long can he keep this up at 30+?

My guess is that R. Brown at the 3.06 is not as great as Ricky Williams at... oh, say 16.08...

What say'eth you? Where did he go in your league?

Fold this into another thread if needed... The question is valid. I think it can stand alone.

Picked him up in August for $2 ($75 bid dollars a year, cumulative) after an owner dropped him for Correll Buckhalter. I'd say he's been my best pickup in awhile.

I drafted him (not a Ronnie Brown owner) at 148th overall.

The five RBs drafted ahead of him were:

Maroney, Laurence NEP RB

Davis, James CLE RB ®

Norwood, Jerious ATL RB

Buckhalter, Correll DEN RB

Williams, Carnell TBB RB

Williams, Ricky MIA RB <==

I was thinking of starting a similar thread, since the Waiver wonders/late round guys/Steals of the Draft have moved a bit all season.

Mario Manningham

Mike Sims-Walker

Sidney Rice

Brett Favre

Cedric Benson

Ricky Williams

For consistency and total impact, Ricky is now overtaking Benson since he's out in crunch time.

I don't quite remember, but it was somewhere toward the very end of a 20+ big rooster IDP draft. I think he was RB6 for whoever took him.

While I agree he was a good deal in drafts as he was still performing as a good RB2, it is difficult to rate him as "steal of the draft" becuase of an injury. Many backup RBs outperform their ADP if the lead back goes down. As an example, the week Jamal Lewis sat out, Harrison put up 121 yards rushing on 29 rushes and added 5 receptions for 31 yards. Obviously, if Lewis was injured longer and Harrison put up anything close to those numbers for several weeks, he would be pretty high on the list too. If TJ went down in NYJ, Shonn Greene would also outperform his ADP by huge margins.

The other thing to consider is at what point will opposing teams simply commit to stopping Ricky and make Henne beat them - I think fairly soon. That's not to say he won't put up good numbers (I think he will be a borderline RB1-RB2 going forward) - but I don't think he will put up 120 on the ground and 3 TDs every week either.

He was drafted in all 3 of my leagues. Went in rounds 15 & 16 to the Brown owner in two of them, and round 17 in the other as a non-Brown owner's RB4(I think.)....precisely two picks before where I was drawing a bead on him.

Steve Smith (NYG), Mario Manningham, Sidney Rice, Mike Sims Walker & Ricky Williams all were FA pickups in my league....those are the waiver wire darlings of 2009.

Yes my leagues is a bunch of newbies, and no I didn't pick up any of them. :bag:

I drafted him 141st overall.

126 - Earnest Graham

129 - Fred Taylor

135 - James Davis

141 - Ricky Williams

142 - Laurence Maroney

Sindey Rice was 195th

Brett Favre was 111th

Cedric Benson was 60th

Mario Manningham was undrafted

Mike Sims-Walker was undrafted

I've only started Ricky five weeks in the year. I've had a hard time starting him over Portis and Tomlinson. Oh well, the decision got a little easier this week.

I hope Ronnie is okay and I'd love to see him stay a Dolphin.

GOOD NEWS: I took Williams with pick 139 in the FBG staff league.

BAD NEWS: I took LT in the first round.

So things worked out as they should . . . except the names were backwards.

I stashed him in one dynasty league two years ago and he's working out nicely. However, I had a chance to tie up Williams to as an restricted free agent or franchise him in another dynasty league but opted for Portis...didn't quite work out there :lmao:

I love seeing Williams persevere through his troubles that resulted in all the public drama he put himself through. A lot of players wouldn't have had the character to come out the other side as he has. Redemption stories are fun to watch unfold.

Going out a limb here predicting he won't go for 120 & 3td's every week  So you can only be considered a steal if you outperform your ADP due to anything other than injury?

I drafted Ricky late in our draft. I then bought into the James Davis preseason hype, and dropped Ricky for James Davis before the season even started.

Ricky was then picked up a couple games into the season by another guy who then promptly traded him for T.O.

Picked RW up at 12.10 as a handcuff for Ronnie Brown. Drafted Sidney Rice (same league) in the 16th round (released him to pick up Bobby Wade--woo hoo!--in Week 3). Drafted Ladell Betts in the 17th, held on to him for 8 long weeks, then released him for a kicker minutes before Portis went down.

Donald Driver is another huge steal.

Last year Ricky didn't do much consistently, this year even before the injury he did much better. Last year had a lot to do with Ricky's spot this year.

no one else placed a bid on him so i was able to sign him to a league minimum ($100--0.5% of the cap), 3 yr contract. him and fred taylor were probably the only significant rbs that received only one bidder. (addai went for $2,900--13%, benson 7%, pierre 16%, mendenhall 5%, reggie bush 11%, leon washington 2%)

i'm still uncertain how he'll finish the year out and relying on him during the playoffs, but very happy with the early returns.
