I wish racial profiling didn't exist (1 Viewer)

It hurts innocent people more than it catches the "bad guys."

A 16-yr-old African American boy was sexually assaulted by a police officer during a “stop and frisk” pat-down. The assault was committed with such violence that the youth’s #### were literally ruptured.

Now, Darrin Manning of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania may never be able to father children, according to the doctors who performed surgery on his virtually destroyed ####.

Darrin was a star basketball player with no criminal history to speak of. He was a straight-A student who never got into any sort of trouble. He was with his teammates heading to a game right after school when he encountered an officer who decided he was “suspicious” and needed to be subjected to local “stop and frisk” procedures.
Though no official reason has been given for the stop and frisk, Darrin and the other (uniformed) members of the basketball team who were stopped suggest it was because they were wearing scarves over their faces to protect against the extreme cold Philadelphia, like much of the country, has suffered this winter.

Darrin was put in handcuffs. When the officer began “frisking” him, they grabbed hold of Darrin’s genitals so hard, pulled and twisted, that the teen’s genitals literally tore off.

“I felt the officer reach and grab my butt. Then the officer grabbed my #### and squeezed again and pulled down. And that’s when I heard something pop, like I felt it POP,” Manning said.
The incident has left the 16-year-old with felony charges of assault and resisting arrest.

Keon Gerow, Pastor of Catalyst for Change Church, said “We want to have some questions answered and some accountability. We want the entire public to be aware, not only of the Darrin Manning situation, but the entire issue of police brutality.”

This story is without question one of the most severe cases of documented police abuses of power, brutality and sexual assault. Watch the video below and SPREAD THE WORD! There is no excuse for staying silent about this!

"I’m just grateful that they just didn’t kill him," said Darrin’s mother.

It is horrible but this is the kind of case which justifiably results in a seven plus figure lawsuit and the cop should do some years in prison for this. This cop is a very extreme and terrible example. I can't believe the kid is really facing charges.

I need some source to even believe the facts as outlined in this. Some of of it makes no sense.
Just google the kid's name and you'll see that the OP chose the most sensational story to post. Looks like the rest of them report that he suffered a rupture. Nobody's genitals were "literally torn off!".

whatever the true facts of the assault are, I feel like this has less to do with racial profiling and more to do with just some twisted #### who generally should not have power.

This story is just an anecdote, and probably exaggerated at that.

But racial profiling DOES exist in this country, and it's a terrible thing.

Why was the cop pulling his pickle in the first place?
The long arm of the law and all that...

Why do we have "stop and frisk" laws?

I just don't understand how that passes any Constitutional review.

Oh and...this story is nuts. I'm not sure what that cop was trying to pull. I'd really like to hear more teste-mony.

This is really a story about police brutality, not racial profiling. Not that I'm a fan of "stop and frisk" either, but its proponents don't support (literally) emasculating people during these encounters.

that's not racial profiling. that's criminal assault

The reality is if they were doing this in suburban white neighborhoods to white children there would be no stop and frisk. This is all about establishing control over "them" and it's just what the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

So I haven't really followed the stop and frisk debate in NYC, so I don't currently have an opinion. I suspect that I would not be in favor of the policy if I knew the details.

Can someone give me a quick summary of what the policy gives the police the right to do, when they can do it, and what conditions are placed on it? Yes, I know Google could do this, but I'm short on time...
