I'm currently in the 3rd round of an initial 8 round IDP draft. This is a 12 team dynasty league and it's my 1st ever IDP draft.

We start 5 and have flex positions. Here's the 5 starting requirements:

LB

LB/DB

DB

I'll most likely be starting 3 LB's since they score a little more in our scoring system. Here's our scoring system:

IDP SCORING

Solo Tackle - 1 pt

Assisted Tackle - .5 pts

Sack - 2 pts

Forced Fumble - 2 pts

Fumble Recovery - 2 pts

TD - 6 pts

Interception - 2 pts

Blocked Kick - 2 pts

Return Yards - 30 yards/pt

Safety - 4 pts

Pass Deflection - 1 pt

I got Keith Bulluck at 1.06 and Andra Davis at 2.07. I can't decide whether I should take my 3rd LB now, or my 1st DB.

LB's taken: Vilma, Tatupu, June, Urlacher, Merriman, Bulluck, Thurman, Peterson, Barnett, Pierce, Edwards, Witherspoon, R.Lewis, A.Davis, Fletcher, D. Johnson, Trotter, Z.Thomas, & Spikes.

DB's taken: A.Wilson, Trufant, G.Wilson, Gamble, Reed, & Polamalu.

I'm definitely not taking a DL yet.

The best available LB's from a dynasty list I'm using are: Briggs, Brooking, Brackett, K.Morrison, K.Mitchell, Brooks, Dansby, D.Smith, Farrior, M.Washington, & D.Morgan.

The best available DB's from a dynasty list I'm using are: M.Lewis, R.Williams, Tillman, Sanders, Barber, Boulware, M.Williams, Clements, Coleman, & D.Robinson.

Would you take a 3rd LB or my 1st DB here? Who would you take? I'm hoping to get McGee as a 2nd DB due to the points for return yards.

I saw this post too late. :( I ended up picking Briggs in the 3rd.

Now I have to decide on my 4th round pick. (I'm 8 picks away)

So far the DL's selected are: Umenyiora, Peppers, Freeney, & Suggs.

So far the DB's selected are: A.Wilson, Trufant, G.Wilson, Gamble, Reed, & Polamalu.

The next 10 DB's on the dynasty list I'm using are: M.Lewis, R.Williams, Tillman, Sanders, Barber, Boulware, M.Williams, Clements, Coleman, & D.Robinson.

The next 10 DL's on the dyansty list I'm using are: W.Smith, J.Taylor, Schobel, Abraham, Grant, Burgess, J.Allen, Rice, Berry, & Mathis.

Would you take a DL here and hope that McGee falls to me in the 5th round? Would you take a DB other than McGee here and hope that he falls to me later? Or would you just take McGee here and then take a DL in the 5th to round out my starting 5?

I'm not as high on McGee as you are, although I'm confused ... are those return yards specail teams or interception return yards? Of the remaining players available, and taking into account who you've already selected I'd be looking at Will Smith and Aaron Schobel.

Thanks for bringing that up about the return yards. I thought that it was for special teams which is why I was high on McGee. We're either going to have return yards points for turnovers only or no return yards points at all.Now I have to decide on my 4th round pick. (I'm 1 pick away)

My 1st thought is to take a DB here because overall they score more than DL's in this scoring system. But the more I think about it, I'm thinking that I should take one of the top DL's here since more of them are available. Also, the dropoff of the top DL's seems to be more than the top DB's making it easier to get a very good DB later even though more of them have been picked.

Should I take one of the top DL's here and wait to take a DB in the 5th? Should I take a DB here and wait to take a DL in the 5th?

Which player would you take? Please name 2 players just in case 1 of them gets picked with the pick before me.

I would take a look at Bob Sanders. I like safeties who make consistent tackles, and he is young. With sacks being only 2 points, you can wait on a DL. Good tackling CB's like Tillman, Winfield and Barber are also possibilities.

I know the scoring system seems to favor DBs with 1 point per pass defended, but I am inclined to take Will Smith here. Mostly because I like Mike Brown and Kerry Rhodes and think they may last until the 5th whereas Smith might not.

So far I have 1 vote for Will Smith/Aaron Schobel. 1 vote for Sanders/Tillman/Winfield/Barber. And another vote for Will Smith.

I think you should go with Will Smith, he is young and talented and you have to start a DL just like you have to start a DB.

i agree and see schobel as a top 3-5 DL this yr...that buff def is gonna be on the field a ton

Probably can wait on him but Abraham is in for a monsta year he is one of a select few that can get the consistent tackles along with the sacks in a very opportunistic defense.

I actually almost took 1 of Tillman, Sanders, & Coleman with my 4th round pick so I'm thrilled that everyone is still available to me in the 5th round.

Which DB would you take here? I'm one away from being on the clock. Please give 2 names just in case 1 of them is picked right before me.

I would stay away from Coleman.... word is the new CS is not enamored with him. I can't supply a link for that, but it's enough to make me shy away with the other options you have.

Just read a report Taylor could get a suspension.... but in a Dynasty, I'd take him. Archuleta will be steady and secure too.
