Im guessing not also, this contest was AWESOME!! Looked 4wd to playing the experts and IDP regulars every year. The Man With No Name said:Must not be doing it this year

ashame that fellow idp fans from our forums made the impact that coz the cancellation of that wonderfull contest.David Dodds responded to someone who asked about it in the Sharkpool and said no go. It sounds like the contest pissed off a lot of guys off who didn't sign up before the deadline and canceled their subscriptions when FBG's wouldn't let them in.
Made it sound like it wasn't worth the headache... fwiw.

the prize wasnt high as 35 or 70 K (like in the general site) but modest.. still i think for most of us the winning was the prestige and respect that came with the titile knowing with whom we played here and our passion to this game.
i myself loved the heavey tackle league i paticipating and missing it, this second summer in a row.
maybe next time
till then enjoy ur idp seasons and GL

Your selling yourself short JGB, you and i were the only teams to make the finals every year that the contest was held(4 years).amit-nfl said:ashame that fellow idp fans from our forums made the impact that coz the cancellation of that wonderfull contest.David Dodds responded to someone who asked about it in the Sharkpool and said no go. There are quite a few of us who always seemed to end up in the same bracket (buck56, Chaos Commish, Donnybrook, Kurtrudder, The Man With No Name, OBX Legends, Tick, Fullback Fro, etc.) and feel the same way Amit. Winning the IDP Survivor a couple years ago was all about the intrinsic reward due to the level of competition. We all knew the company we were competing against from the IDP forums was the cream of the crop. I, for one, won't forget it... I think making the finals three years in a row meant more to me than the year I won it.
Fwiw, I doubt it was guys from the IDP boards who caused the issue. Can't say for certain but chances are more likely it was the Sharkpool crowd and not the IDP Survivor.
Maybe. But at this late date, I don't see organizing big play, balanced and tackle heavy leagues unless I have a ton of help. I'm not a big fan of recruiting to fill leagues. I'm sure Jene would happily consult with me/us for setting this up right next year, but he's probably too busy to add this to his calendar now. So consider it a project I want to make happen.Would any of you other owners (Jene?) be willing to setup this up with us throwing in 10-15 bucks a piece in a winner take all?
I would be in for such a thing. As long as someone else would run it. ;-)
We could us league safe for the funds.
Id give you a hand next year OBX, not very good w/ computers but ill do what ever i can to help bring back the contest.obxlegends said:Would any of you other owners (Jene?) be willing to setup this up with us throwing in 10-15 bucks a piece in a winner take all?

Thanks JGB, good luck to you also.J Giles Band said:The interaction with Jene and the others who've posted in this thread, in particular, was the absolute best... I can tell you in no uncertain terms, it forced me to get better at IDP.
Good luck to you guys in your respective leagues this year.
I hope you will at least have time to join a league w/ us Jene.Jene Bramel said:There was a fair amount of effort involved in putting the IDP side of this contest together, but nothing about our spinoff (of which I'm aware, anyway) was part of the reason to end the contest. For this year -- and, honestly, future years -- I just don't see myself having the time to organize these leagues, especially the inseason drafts. Definitely agree that it was a cool contest, though, and I'm sure a handful of staffers would be interested in league slots if we find a way to bring it back as a board project.

I think the unfortunate reality is our contest took up valuable resources and did little to nothing to generate revenue... Can't say for certain, but judging by the way they have been shamelessly pushing FanDuel, I think it's safe to say they are following the . And if it increases their revenue streams, it is difficult to argue with for their business model.Find me next summer and we'll see what we can come up with.
I'm acutally very disapointed in Joe and David for not taking this contest very seriously. I thought with Sigmund becoming part owner of FBG's we'd have a stronger voice, but nonetheless we're still in the same boat.

Buck56 and I were discussing our disappointment with the direction recently... I can see the attraction to FanDuel for the gambling community here (which I'm sure is a large % of guys), and I realize that I'm likely in the minority, but I've never played fantasy football for the money . I've won my share, but it's still not WHY I play. If I want to gamble, I go to Vegas...
I'm reluctant to respond here, but I'll say this.Which is too bad because for a small amount of cash or other incentives, I would run the survivor leagues. Other than the drafting part, how much time would it be anyways. I have the time being on disability like I am and anything under the table for me would be awesome.
Agreed though all about the money and can anyone be blamed for that. I doubt these leagues brought in any extra cash. Not like the Auction where I know guys who buy a subscription just to enter that.
