IDP with Team Defense? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, first post here...This will be the first year we use IDP's in our FF League. We arent even sure if we will continue it in the future, but figured we should try it out at least once. That being said, I also set the league up to use Team Defense as well. Is this a bad idea, or not a big deal at all.Personally, I like the strategies of using Team Defenses and didnt want to give that up, but will having IDP's thrown in the mix really screw things up?I dont plan on changing the format at this point, our draft is two weeks away, I am just curious as to what more experienced players think of this situation. Thanks,Jason

Thanks,

What strategy is there in using team D? It is pretty telling when a D is the second last item in a draft to get selected (ahead of only Keeckers).Scratch the team D concept & go to IDPs - if you want to intensify the FF experience AND you are willing to do some extra homework - if you are, you will soon realize that IDPs enhance the FF experience by an amount much greater than you would have thought. If you want it easy & lazy, stick with team D.

Actually, this may not be a bad way to ease into the dark side of IDP play. You and your fellow owners will indeed find that the draft strategy will be somewhat different. Depends on a ton of things as to weather all enjoy the NEW game, but best of luck.

I think once you start playing with IDP, you will scrap the team D. Personally, I wouldn't play with both, but like flooredyas said; may not be a bad idea to ease into... I'm sure you will prefer IDP over team D, Good Luck.

Its certainly not as involved as IDP's would be, but there still is some. Like the Points Allowed stat, and even yardage allowed if you use that. Plus the Special Teams stats can be counted in with it as well. Thanks for the input though, I will see what the other owners think at the end of the season to determine wether or not to switch completely to IDP or not. If majority rules to stick with Team Defense, I may just have to join a third league next year that uses IDP's. :D

My league eased into the IDP like you are proposing to do, and it seemed to work well. Initially, we had the team defense and six IDPs (two DL, two LB and two DB). Now, we are up to eight IDPs with no team defense. It's cool because we start 8 offensive players and 8 defensive players. Lots of flex positions, so rosters are varied all over the place.
