IDP's (1 Viewer)

Are there any defensive players this year that are worth an earlier pick?

I think there are some nice picks but not so sure there are not about 24 better offensive players (taking into consideration your scoring system...)

The leagues I have been in with IDP's I still emphasize offensive picks in the first 2 rounds as a general rule. Do others as well?
Depends on things such as number of IDP starters and scoring. They usually start getting drafted in the late first round in both my leagues.
How is your league set up? That seems earlly to me but checking the last few years in mine someone goes D early in the 2nd like clockwork.

I just looked at my 14 team league where we start a full 11 man defense and on offense start 1/2/3/1/1. Last year, picks 13 and 14 were IDP's and there were 5 more in the 2nd round. In 2007, pick 12 was the top IDP and there were 6 taken in the 2nd round. In 2006, picks 8 and 9 were IDP's and there were 7 taken in the 2nd round. Not as early as I thought, but still in the 1st round.

Wow - that would seem to make alot of sense then. For me the set up is generally the same for the offensive side of the ball but I have never played with an 11 man D. For D it is more the 2/1/2 or 5 starters with at least 1 or 2 DL/LB/DB. In these leagues there is much more players available on the waiver wire that make an immediate impact than there are on the offensive side of the ball which is why I imagine those players (offense) are hit harder in the opening rounds.

I'm in a 12 Man redraft IDP every year. The big playmakers usually start going in round 3-4 for me. I believe Patrick Willis was taken in the middle of the 3rd. D can win you a championship in that league though. We start..

The DL's can be LB's or Defensive Linemen and the DB's can be a safety or a corner. The D's are anything. Needless to say the guy that has stacked his team with MLB's and safety's usually has a great team.

:blackdot: Sorry, but my posts weren't entirely accurate. I have Dynasty on the brain, and was talking about rookie drafts. Sorry. But I do think the 3rd or 4th round in a redraft or initial dynasty isn't out of the question to draft an IDP depending on number of starters.

I was not intentionally focusing on redraft or dynasty although my example was a dynasty format. The big difference appears that my point of reference was a format where only 5 weekly starters were IDP's rather than a full 11. As a result defensive players become less valuable because there are better pick ups each year on the waiver wire on that side of the line than on offense.
