If Dom Davis goes down, will A.Smith take it? (1 Viewer)

Right now Antowain is regarded as the backup -- Morency as the 3rd stringer.

Is this just coach BS, or will Vernand Morency really take over if DD goes down. I can't imagine a 34 year old (Antowain Smith) who has barely ever started in his career take it.

your thoughts?

Morency is apparently doing too much dancing and not adapting well to the one cut running game.

He could still "get it" and win the backup job. If DD were to go down, I think he would at least get a few carries to show his stuff, and if he's as talented as he looked at Oklahoma St in his senior year (looked very similar to Tatum Bell imo), then he could win the lion's share of the carries. I think Smith is an insurance policy for Morency not gelling in the one cut system.

Michael Bennett could also fit in this picture, Houston has been mentioned as interested. He and Smith could be a bargain basement Anderson/Bell if Morency stays in the doghouse and DD goes down.
