If Gordon is ruled out, does that help or hurt Rivers?

Odds are they are going to need to keep up with the Chiefs. 

But Gordon was a great check down.

Having your best playmaker out can't be seen as anything but a negative IMO.

Yeah, they may pass more, but the offense won't be as good, less red zone opportunities, etc.

That said, I don't think Rivers is a bad start or anything.

I completely agree. And I guess maybe it is a stupid question. 

But from a fantasy perspective, I'm hoping it may lead to Rivers throwing more late to keep up / catch up.

I think it greatly hurts SD. That said I think SD has faith in Jackson based on what he has shown.  Maybe SD runs the ball like crazy early to kill clock. If they fall behind then Rivers has to throw a ton.
