If the rain doesn't stop . . . (1 Viewer)

The Yankees were down 4-2 entering the 9th inning and rallied to score twice in the bottom of the 9th to tie the score. Except they didn't finish the inning and the rains came.

As far as I know, baseball rules have it that if an inning is not completed it reverts back to the last completed inning.

However, I believe that there is also a rule that says a game can be suspended at a certain time (I think 1:00 or 2:00 AM) at which point it would pick up the next day at the point it was interrupted (2 outs in the bottom of the 9th).

Anyone watching this on tv? Does it appear that the rains might get the game called? Anyone know the ruling on this one should it get called?

4.12

SUSPENDED GAMES.

A game shall become a suspended game that must be completed at a future date if the game is terminated for any of the following reasons:

...

(5) Weather, if a regulation game is called while an inning is in progress and before the inning is completed, and the visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not retaken the lead; or

(6) It is a regulation game that is called with the score tied.

The game would be suspended. They changed the rule years ago. The Yanks got screwed out of a win in Baltimore in 78' when they scored 5 runs to erase a 3-0 lead. The rains came and the game was called. Score reverted back to 3-0. That caused the rule to be changed.
