If the Ravens win 2 more super bowls this decade (1 Viewer)

The Patriots currently with 3 super bowl titles would probably be cnosidered by most as team of the decade.

But let's say the Ravens win this year and then win one more. That gives them 3 as well for the decade, as they also won it in January of 2001.

Is it more impressive for the Patriots to win 3 in 4 years, or is it more impressive to build a champ in 2000-2001, and then retool and win two more towards the end of the decade?

There's never a final answer, but if the Ravens fail to win it all this year, this question may never arise again, so I thought I'd toss it out there.

Let's say the Chargers win 3 Super Bowls the next 3 years, are they the team of the decade?

As 1st tie breaker you naturally go to Superbowl victories in team-of-decade consideration.

Then I think for the years of "non-superbowl" victories you look at those seasons with how many times they made playoffs during the decade (aside from the Superbowl victory seasons) and how deep into playoffs the teams went.

Then I think win loss records during regular season is 3rd priority factor. Rebuilding years where you are sub .500 have to count as detrimental to the "team of the decade" calculation. If you can "rebuild" or and stay .500 or better during non-Superbowl seasons...that is truly worth consideration. Right now I think Pats are head and shoulders above the rest of NFL for team of the decade consideration. Steelers probably 2nd best option (1 Superbowl victory, numerous playoff appearance, very strong reg. season win/loss records) and Eagles are up there with the 1 Superbowl appearance and numerous NFC championship game appearances. But both are way behind the Pats currently.

If Ravens win Superbowl this year, I could see them moving into 2nd place behind the Pats. Make the Superbowl but lose it...arguably 2nd place. They just haven't been that consistent in their "off" years. Its been feast or famine with them.

If the Cardinals win every game the rest of the decade, do they become a front runner for team of the Millenium?

If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.

Your question raises another question of whether the year 2000 is part of this decade. I argue that it is not. See the Ad Nauseum Debate Over Celebration of New Millienium.

Based on your apparent definition of this decade, the Ravens would have to win their third Superbowl during or before the 2009 season. If you count the 2010 season, you are creating an 11 year decade. See the definition of decade.

For purposes of this question, one must assume that this decade means the 2000 season through the 2009 season.

my nomination for stupidest thread ever!

If the Knicks win every game for the rest of the year by more than 20 points each will they be the favorites to win the title?

Well the term "team of the decade" typical refers to "team of the 80s" and "team of the 90s" so its a given that it would be the 2000 thru 2009 season.
