Now before all the keyboard commandos suit up and get into attack mode....understand that I KNOW that scheduling is not a very big deal.
...but I see an opportunity here to add a little "something" to our fantasy schedules.
One reason that I set my league at 14 teams is that everyone gets to play everyone else ONE time and one time only.
The excuse of "my schedule was tougher than your schedule" when a team has to face this year's fantasy juggernaught twice and doesn't make the playoffs while someone else plays him only once and makes the playoffs...doesn't fly.
Yeah...it's not that big of a deal...but it's nice when you have one less excuse that the league whiner can use to explain why he doens't need to submit a lineup during the post-season.
So...if (when) the NFL adds games to the schedule....would you do anything "special"?
I was thinking about being a little "creative" with those added games.
My league has 14 teams...2 divisions
Four teams in each division make the playoffs.
It seems that every year we go to a tie-breaker to decide the final team in each division to make the playoffs.
It's always close.
My thought:
If we set up something whereas the added games are played against a team in your own division that is currently keeping you out of the playoffs seems like it would add a little "something" to the end of the regular season.
13 game regular season...
3 game post-season
....give those added games in between the two...a name like "crunch time" or something.
For example:
If (when) they add these games I would schedule and play out the regular 13 games as usual.
The additional games could be something different to allow teams to make a move to make the playoffs.
Schedule the game(s) after Week 13 based on the current standings.
Play the added game(s) (Weeks 14 & 15) within each division to give teams at the bottom or on the bubble a chance to make up a game or two at the end and make the playoffs.
Like...
#1 vs. #2
#3 vs. #4
...etc...
I've just always liked the idea of everyone playing each other one time during the regular season and I'm thinking that his may add something to the season.
