If you could choose one scifi tech to be reality with certainty... (1 Viewer)

What would it be?

Parameters:

1. The tech can already have been created/discovered in some fashion, but is not available in the sense of whatever scifi has depicted it as.

2. Choose 2: one that you want and one that you think would be most beneficial to society.

3. Name the scifi source, if you know it, for whatever tech you're listing.  

4. This tech will be formed/discovered in the same way it is portrayed I whatever scifi source your citing.

For me:

Want: Transporters (Star Trek).  I hate traveling, and would love to just beam/reassemble to wherever I need to be.  How cool would it be to work in another part of the world but come home everyday in an instant?  Or beam to the grocery store when you're low on beer (or beam beer to your home!).

Need: Replicators (Star Trek).  This would solve a number of world problems and allow us to significantly progress as a civilization.  Plus, if I can't have transporters, I can then replicate beer.

What do you got?

The title seems different than what you are asking in the OP.  Is it something you will think will eventualy become a reality or something you would want.   I really don't see beaming people around as a possibility, but it would be cool

Sorry - I'll clarify in the OP.  I was looking not what you think might become reality, but to simply choose one scifi tech that you could guarantee to become reality in whatever form the respective scifi source depicts it.
