If you have both Bells, do you play them both this week? (1 Viewer)

Wondering what others thought of the prospects of starting both Bells in a 2 RB starting league setup, if your typical "stud" RBs had tough matchups. Playing St Louis looks favorable and with the other options being SJax and Dunn against tough Defenses, does starting both Bells make sense? These two combined I think would be worth a good shot, especially this week.

I would start Jackson and Dunn. At least you know they are going to get the ball. Tatum is probably safe for 10 or so, but M. Bell could get yanked at anytime.

I would argue see Ronnie Brown last night for a reason to play your studs. He had ~60 combined yards, but 2 touchdowns. With the Broncos RB you maybe looking at a chance for 80-85 yards a piece and then guessing at the touchdowns. IMO, s-Jax's usage will be closer to Ronnie's, and Dunn is a safer option even playing the Panthers than guessing at the bronco's RB situation.

Edit: This is from a guy who is starting both Bells in a league where I can start 3 RBs.

I agree. Gotta play your studs if healthy. Good question though. I was wondering the same thing the other day. Too lazy to look it up, but I wonder if Bell nad Anderson had a week where they both did RB1 well.

i stay very far away from Dunn this week...last 2 games vs CAR:

01.01.06 - 7/29/0 2/10/0

12.04.05 - 16/80/0 1/6/0

Sure, he had some nice games against them in '04, but anybody remember how bad CAR was that year. In '03, Dunn did nothing against the real Panthers D.

Im playing Gore over Both. If i didnt have Gore i would play A Green.. If i find any takers for the Bells im getting rid of both. Denver IMO will take a step back. The Rat thinks any RB will do and i think this is the year he finds out they wont. If he ran T Bell 20+ a game he would be happy IMO.

I've got both Bells and will be forced to plug in one of them this week, but I can't figure out which one to play. :wall:
Just an opinion, but I would say Mikey. You know he's gonna start, and get some carries. IF he does muy bueno, then Tatum gets only a few looks. He may stink up the joint and Tatum runs wild, but it'd only be after he's had his shot.My 2cents

 Thanks. I've got Mike in there, but I feel like it could go either way.

Until a late season trade, I had the Anderson/Bell thing last year (same dynasty league) and w/o looking for specifics from that league, several times I would have been better playing them both instead of what other 3rd back or 4th WR that I played.

I think you go with guys you konw are going to get touches....ala Ronnie Brown if an NFL RB gets enough touches he is likely to make something out of them and I think Dunn definately qualifies.....

Ok so what about if you had to play either one of the Bells or say Reggie Bush. That would be a problem cause you do not know ho many touches Bush will get either.

What has led you to believe Mike Bell won't get touches? I see him - optimistically, on my knees - getting what Mike Anderson had last year.

I think both are good plays, Tatum equals out more in PPR leagues IMO. Mike, to me, is the odds on favorite due to his chances of more touches.

Tatum I like a little more in my leagues with length of TD factors, especially with the PPR factor thrown in. I would not be upset if I had to start both in a league you could start 3RB's. However, I would not be happy that I did not have a more viable option then having to chose one to go with 2 other RB's or 3 very good WR/TE's.

Tough call for sure, but Tatums touches are pretty much guaranteed at 12-18 rushes and about 4-7 targets in the passing game. I actually don't mind that, because I can deal with that as Tatum'f floor, considering his ceiling with those touches (and possibly more) is pretty darn high.

I preface all that with this though, in low performance leagues, with base TD's of 6 per, I'd start Mike over Tatum.

I think in a start 2 RB league you have to pass pending your other starting RB options.

However, in a start 3 RB league, I would have no problem starting that duo as mr RBs 2 &3.

Think of combined points of most RBs 2/3. I'd take the potential points against the Rams versus most other options.

:goodposting: what he said

How well does Mike Bell catch the ball? I see lots of people expect Tatum to get the advantage in PPR. Is Mike a bad receiver? Or will it not matter, and Tatum will just get the catches?

I own Tatum Bell in one league in which I am starting him at RB#3 (over Portis)

I own both of the Brothers' Bell in another league. Hedging my bets a little and starting Mike Bell (over Tatum and Jamaal Lewis, who's coming off an injury) at RB#3. I'm using the Mike Anderson rationale (Anderson was the steadier producer vs. Bell last year).

You have to start Steven Jackson. The question really comes down to Mike Bell vs. Dunn. Dunn is the safe bet to see the most action.

No he can catch the ball, but Cobbs did more of it in PS. They'll throw it, but Tatum probably gets more because of his speed.

I had F. Taylor going over Tatum this week (w/ Portis hurt). But FBG projections only have F Taylor w/ 13 carries, and Tatum with 11 carries...

not sure what gives on that, but I may play Tatum. Just not sure why the low carry projection for Freddy?

Well the fact is there is nothing to lead us to believe he will get a lot of touches.....if there were we this thread wouldnt exist. Thus I go with the sure thing Dunn will get touches

This is week one. Take a chance but don't play not to lose. Gamble with upside. Startign both Bells almost assures you of having one dud in your lineup. Unless they both put up 100 + a TD. Not likely. Go Mike Bell and throw someone else in your lineup at RB. JMHO

Good analysis.

I'm currently starting both Bells over Droughns, CTayler & Matt Jones.

I'm not sure if it is such a good move and may change my mind. However, that's what I got so far....
