This is a very simplistic question and I understand there are many more factors that go into this. Bottomline, however, is that some owners seemingly don't care about putting a winning product on the field as long as they are making money.

So, let's assume you're a very wealthy owner of an NFL team. You can spend more money on a better head coach, better players, better everything and increase your chances of winning a title but this money is coming from YOUR pocket. Let's also keep in mind that we often remember the Head Coach and the players when talking about previous Super Bowl champions, but the owners aren't usually given as much recognition or credit.

Let's assume you're worth $1 billion.

Put me down for >$100 million, it's an investment and I'm in it to win it baby! I'd be a lot like Bud Adams I think.

I don't expect owners use their own money to make a team better, but I expect them to remain competitive by using their revenue on the team.

Let's assume you're worth $1 billion.

Wayne no longer owns the Dolphins FYI...now its Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Estefan, and Jimmy Buffett. And the Glazers might be worth that but they are liquid for about 2.5k it seems lately. They have a real liquidity problem as they sunk a lot into the Manchester United and surely are behind the NFL getting a London team that they desperately would like to get in on.

Just grabbed the first result data off a Google search...that poor wretch Paul Allen is down to 11.5B...and WCF was way over a B a few years back before the meltdown.

One thing I thought was interesting. Someone like Jerry Jones doesn't really care as much about making money. Being the owner of the Cowboys had made him a national celebrity. No one knew who he was before he bought the Cowboys. You can't put a price on that. These guys have huge egos, and gaining that sort of celebrity is priceless.
