If You're Calling from a Rotary Phone........ (1 Viewer)

I hear this message a zillion times when I call a business and go thru the automated receptionist. Got me thinking when was the last time you actually saw a rotary phone?

I suspect some do exist, but I don't remember the last time I saw one..........

Is this really just down to people over 70 years old?

"If you are calling from a rotary phone we sincerely apologize. Apparently we have had you on hold for the past 40 years. Your call is important to us. Please continue to hold the line and the next available operator will be right with you. We appreciate your business."

I keep one on hand for hurricanes, if the digital dies it works. At least it worked in Katrina. Same is true for text, it works when the cell towers don't allow calls, don't know why.

Yo mama so old she got an iPhone and asked where the rotary dial was.

Do you have a network of rotary phone wielding friends that you call during power outages?

I still can't believe I get a phone book every 6 months. Got one on Thursday, left it on the porch for 3 days and then threw it in the bushes in front of the Verizon facility across the street

Is the phone company getting gov assistance for making these?

Has to be a major waste every year?

Apparently the yellow pages are a big money maker due to the ad sales. White pages are an expense. Either way, I throw them on the phone company's lawn after a few days.

Found one in my mom's attic when cleaning up. My daughter took a pic and posted it on Instagram saying "check out my new Phone!"... all the kids thought it was hilarious.

Figured that...who would agree to place an ad there though?

Maybe part of a package?

IDK, but I thought those things would have died out in 2002 or somethin

I always leave them out there for a few days too. I guess I'm hoping someone will come back and get it, but I always end up having to throw it in the recycle bin.

Rotary phones have a more honest sound quality to them. The tones are just richer, warmer, and more authentic. Touch-Tone phones are soulless and the acoustic quality is stale and overproduced.

Ha actually several of my family members do have them... but it's not necessary, the way it has worked before is that you can ring in to those on cell/digital even though they can't ring out. Odd I know.

You need to download the retrofilter app for your touch tone -- honestly can't tell the difference between authentic and the filtered touch tones.

Don't have one but pretend to have one all the time to jump out of automated attendant jail.

I stopped advertising in YP forever ago. Used to be you had to have a certain size and placement for eyecare. Now, nah. I pay zilch for the basic white page listing that no one uses ever.
