I'm benching Chris Johnson for . . . (1 Viewer)

I could bench him for Lendale. Not very confident lendale will do better than CJ agains the Jets tho.

Planning on benching LenDale and ChJohnson and starting Jon Stewart @ATL, Hillis vOAK, Pierre vGB.

Trying to decide between CJ and Ronnie Brown (@ home vs NE) as my RB#2. I've got Ronnie in my lineup at the moment.

He is too explosive to bench, IMO. I could start Pittman over him but I am not going to. He could break a 70 yd screen pass at anytime.

I keep waiting for that to happen. Any chance it does before next season?
 We all know he's looked explosive from time to time, but maybe he's not quite the LBJ many on this board want to prop him up to be.
I'm a big fan and I like him a lot but the thing that's been noticeably absent from his production this season are big plays. He's had only one TD of over 50 yards and I'm not sure how many 30-40 yard gains he's had all season.

Starting CJ4.2 and Turner

other options are Fatdale, JStew, or Norwood.

I feel like I'm starting the highest ceiling possible and I need a big week. :loco:

Swing for the fences. Gonna start the boys that got me this far. I'm all in at this point. Go LBJ!

replacing him for Peyton run for the Hillis and <gulp> Antonio Bryant at the flex.

Gruden has called 16% more passing plays on the road. Detroit won't stop Garcia, me thinks. :loco:

From the Super Thread:I quote myself...

He's quietly reached near-stud status, and like MJD, you can't just bench him 'cause he's got a tough matchup. You never know when he'll go off. I've given my reason for his possibility to have a decent-good game. If you're certain to get 120/1 from somebody else, go for it. Lil' Johnson could very well go over 120 total yards and his floor is likely 80 total yards. I can't bring myself to bench him for Parker (thank God), Dunn, T.O., Harrison or Fargas. All good-looking matchups at a glance, but never a 2nd thought for me.

Starting Turner and Addai over CJ3
I have the same 3 guys and I, too, am running out Turner and Addai. Turner got shut down by Carolina in their last meeting, though. And, I'm looking into who the Jets have faced that have given them their reputation as a top run defending team:WK1 Ricky Williams 24 yards (Brown 3/28 receiving)

WK2 LaMont Jordan 62 yards (Faulk 4/50)

WK3 LaDainian Tomlinson 67 yards, 2TDs (Sproles 2/39, Tomlinson 3/20)

WK4 Edgerrin James 29 yards, 2TDs (James 5/37)

WK5 BYE

WK6 Chris Perry 14 yards (Perry 2/2)

WK7 Justin Fargas 74 yards (McFadden 3/50)

WK8 Jamaal Charles 45 yards (Smith 2/15)

WK9 Marshawn Lynch 16 yards (Lynch 3/52)

WK10 Kenneth Darby 32 yards (Pittman 2/38)

WK11 Kevin Faulk 38 yards (Faulk 4/59)

Impressive even if the majority of these guys are spares. The top peformance is Tomlinson w/ 87 total yards and two TDs. If Chris Johnson was used just a little bit more in the passing game I might be inclined to give him a go over Turner.

Sure would like to hear that McFadden was getting the nod tomorrow morning...

NFL shows the Jets with 7 rushing TDs given up. Sammy Morris, Tim Hightower and Ryan Fitzpatrick also scored on the ground.

No RB has scored a rushing TD on them since WK4, nor has anyone outside of Fitzpatrick in WK6.

No RB has topped a 100 yards on the ground. No RB has topped 100 yards combined rushing and receiving.

Thanks for the stat work redjake, after seeing this, and granted there are not many top rated running teams that have faced the Jets, I may sit CJ this week. I may start D. Ward instead, although I can see CJ getting more involved in the passing game this week.

Following up on this point - he has the same number of 50-yard plus TDs this season as Ricky Williams and LenDale White. One.Also, he has only had two plays of longer than 25 yards the entire season to date. And he's only had runs of longer than 15 yards in four games. The explosive potential that had so many people - myself included - drooling over Johnson in the preseason simply hasn't materialized.

Yep. I traded for him after Week 1 thinking I was getting a ticking time bomb that was just waiting to explode. He finally sort of did in Week 7 at KC (and sorta again WK 9 vs. GB) but I guess I was expecting a little more. And, I don't mean to sound down on the guy - he is #11 in my league's scoring. But. I don't think he's at the level that you start him regardless of opponent. So, he sits for me this week.

Only 1? Bummer. If only he could be more like Westbrook, Portis, Gore, LT, Marion Barber, Willie Parker, Thomas Jones, Jamal Lewis, Marshawn Lynch, Brandon Jacobs...

I'm starting Dunn and Hillis in a PPR and leaving Chris Johnson, DeAngelo Williams, Kevin Smith, Reggie Bush, and Fargas on my bench.

Starting him and expecting a good but not great performance. He should do as well as any fill in option on my bench in a shark league, and the J-E-T-S should provide good field position all day against the Titans defense.

When in doubt, start your studs

None of these teams the Jets have played after the bye are near the caliber of the Titans run game. For example, who the hell is Kenneth Darby? I seriously don't know. This does point out that the Jets yield a good chunk of yardage to running backs thru the air. CJ already has 30 grabs and 200 yds receiving this year, he should be a lock for 100 total yds. So he might not break off a 50 yd run every game, but who does?

I just did a little research.. here are the post-bye carries those above running back had each game:

carries/avg

Perry - 11/1.3 avg (this guy is only avg'ing 2.6 ypc this yr)

Fargas - 28/2.6 avg

Charles - 5/9.0 avg!!

Lynch - 9/1.8 avg; 3/52 rec though

Darby - 4/8.0 avg !!

Faulk - 8/4.8 yd avg - i was at this game, the pats didn't have to run b/c the jets pass D is swiss cheese, note faulk had 4/59 receiving

Keep in mind these are all pass-happy teams, with the exception probably being the pathetic Raiders.

I was contemplating starting J Stewart over CJ until i did this research, now I'm starting him without question. I'm also starting him over these other bums - hightower, K smith and mcfadden.

My prediction - 80 yds rushing, 50 receiving with a score. Lendale will get stuffed inside the 5 and teams like to pass in the red zone against NYJ. so the titans will either run a sweep to Johnson on the goal line (they've done this already this yr) or he'll catch a pass for a score.

Now i have to figure out if i'm starting Cotchery or Gage
