I'm done. Witten is on the bench (1 Viewer)

I own Witten in two leagues. In both of them I'm benching his sorry ### for Shiancoe. Guaranteed that Witten will hit paydirt twice this week. Oh, and I'm benching Jennings as well. Get him into your starting rosters...

I will start Witten over Vernon Davis with confidence now! BTW, in a league in which I don't even own Witten, I will now be benching Shiancoe as well thanks to your thread! Thanks for taking the hit for the rest of us GB! :loco:

I'm sure Witten got wind of his benching and will now step up his game for ya........that'll teach him!!!

Dude, you don't bench Jason Witten in a tight end required league. If anything he's gonna start getting better as defenders start to roll coverage to Miles Austin.

Depends who you have to start in his place.

I think you pretty fortunate if you have someone who you would feel confident starting in place of Witten and no, Shinacoe wouldn't be one of them for me.

Taking one for the team here.

Thank you! I dont' have any alternatives and need him to come through w/a decent week.Fingers crossed that Austin starts opening things up for Witten... I've read a few posts here and there that Witten looks slow and overweight--running with a piano on his back was one quote... and they wondered if he was battling an injury of some type... Lots of Dallas fans here---anyone who watches their games seeing this?

I've honestly been considering playing Marcedes lewis v Tenn over Witten. I just have a feeling this might be his [wittens] "go off week".

No, he's fine. Defenses have been keying on him. Now they better pay attention to Austin...which will open it up for Witten. I wouldn't bench him Fanatic...but that's up to you!

OK, what is all this logic and sound reasoning doing in my totally nonsensical thread? Now I'm rethinking benching. Crap....

IMO the Seattle running defense is much better than the stats might indicate. I bet Seattle will likely stop the run well today leading to a big day for Romo. The NFL is about matchups and a mix of give & take. I think they sell out to stop the Dallas RBs and put the game in the hands of Romo.

Another thought, LB Lofa Tatupu is great dropping back in coverage. He's a complete package for middle linebacker. How will his replacement David Hawthorne do? I expect him to make a lot of tackles (like he did in his other start this year), but struggle helping in pass coverage. There will likely be some big holes in the middle of the field in Seattle's zone coverages. That sounds like a good setup for a TE that finds holes in zones to sit in.

You're killing me here. If I put him back in the lineup then it will ruin a great game for the rest of the fantasy world...

Sorry, bro. Just giving you things to consider.Final thought.... The Seattle defense vs. the Dallas offense won't decide this game IMO. I think the Dallas defense just kills the Seattle offense. LB Demarcus Ware gets to eat up a 4th string left tackle. That sounds like complete destruction in the worst possible way. Seattle won't be able to run the ball well which will set up those obvious passing situations. Hence, Ware just kills today leading to some costly turnovers. I'm just hoping to see a close game and not watch my Seahawks get embarrassed.

Nice analysis man. Appreciate the info.

I agree but it does not belong in this thread... This is about me falling on the sword for the rest of you...

So are you? lots of people counting on you. My opponent has Shiancoe too... so I really am.

Thanks for taking one for the team, Fan. We need something to break Witten loose. I'm actually playing him in a non-TE mandatory league (bye week issues). I do think defenses will key on Austin now, and it should free up Witten, who went for 100+ and a TD last time he played the Seahawks. My only fear is they get too far ahead and stop passing.

for me, witten to the pine and shockey to the field.

this kind of game/match up is one dallas could easily drop a turd. but I'm playing shockey anyway until I see something from witten.

Haha, fair enough. Let us know so the rest of us can plan accordingly. TIA.

OK next week will be my turn. I benched both Vernon Davis and Shiancoe today and of course they both caught TDs, so next week I will kill Davis' value by starting him and benching Witten (for the 1st time this season).

Sorry VD owners the party ends next week - oh and you're welcome fellow Witten owners...
