I'm gonna be in Seattle over the 4th of July - what to do? (1 Viewer)

Never been there. My wife, my two boys (ages 14/11), and I get done with an Alaska cruise July 4th and we are staying in the area leaving first thing the 7th.

I've never been to the area so I'm a) curious what to do for the 4th of July Fireworks, and b) in general, looking for suggestions on things to see/do.

We admittedly like the touristy stuff so we plan on hitting the Needle, Pike St, but what else? Rooms look like they're really expensive so we'll probably end up staying away from downtown unless we find a deal. We'll rent a car so we'll be able to get around.

We do get in to the area June 25th so will have nearly 2 full days (Thur/Fri) also.

TIA

Impossible not to have fun in Seattle in the summer. I would pay the extra money and stay downtown, avoiding a rental car. You can walk just about everywhere or take a cab. Otherwise, where are you thinking of staying? AVOID the Sea/Tac area for lodging. Unless you want an STD or visual pollution is your thing.

Seriously, Priceline a hotel in downtown and thank me later. You can get good deals if you are willing to gamble on Priceline's opaque business model.
