I'm sick of these B.S. false reports! (1 Viewer)

This was a report on Friday:

"Atlanta Falcons LB Sean Weatherspoon (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 19, reports D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is listed as questionable for Week 11 but is expected to play."

I started Weatherspoon and he didn't ever play. WTF!!!!!!!!

These type of reports seem to happen all the time. Why are the teams allowed to put out false reports???

I don't know about Witherspoon specifically, but things can change, even in the span of a day or two. Players feel better or have a setback just prior to the game, and sometimes reports are wrong, such as the Mario Williams report from Sunday morning.Always check in before the game to see actives and inactives, and when someone reports something, especially something new and different from prior reports, always ask for a link and look for your own confirmation. You don't get to mail this in and just rely upon a possibly stale Friday report if you want the level of reliability you seem to be looking for.

He DID play. Weatherspoon rotated in with Stephen Nicholas on passing downs. Just so happens that he didn't get a tackle.

:goodposting: This...First off, the guy played. So the report was accurate. But as 2 squirrels points out, if you don't take the responsibility to double check the status of players on game day, don't blame a 2-day old report when you have a guy in your lineup who doesn't play. Take some ownership. Now the post Sunday that Mario Williams was inactive deserves serious scrutiny as it was completely false. But even in that situation, I took it with a grain of salt and considered it wasn't a source I would normally rely on for accurate info.Always consider the source, make use of sources you can count on and most importantly, fact check and cross reference any information you read.

That Mario one hurt me badly but its also a lesson learnt too. I live in Australia so the 1pm games currently start at 5am for me.....3 am before daylight savings changes etc. Anyway, I ALWAYS get up with about 15 mins to spare to check those inactives and reset my lineups accordingly. This week I only checked the FBG news feed and replaced Mario in a couple of lineups. In future I will be getting on to the forum and checking the inactives thread to be 100% sure.

Yeah, you are right that I should take more responsibility about seeing if my guy starts, but I don't have time all the time to check on Sunday morning. Guess I'll just have to roll with my decisions.

Here's another lesson. Weatherspoon is a guy that despite his immense talent you probably shouldn't be playing at all anyway at least until he shows you that you should. He will so don't worry as far as dynasty leaguers are concerned. But for now, stash him for later and consider yourself fortunate if he's somebody worth using this year. He'll be a great player but unlikely it's this year from a fantasy perspective at least.

Actually, Weatherspoon was a top 15 LB through the first three weeks of the season until he got injured. He was more productive, fantasy-wise, than Lofton over that stretch. Yes, 3 weeks is a small sample, but he had an immediate impact on a defense that is in need of more impact players other than Lofton. The writing was on the wall most of the pre-season that he was amazing the coaches, and it was going to be very difficult to keep him off the field.
