I'm starting RG3 over ________ (1 Viewer)

Against the Rams? I'm tempted to rank him #1 this week.

Is this the same Rams who signed Cortland Finnegan, drafted Jannoris Jenkins, and have a stud DE in Chris Long? The same Rams that essentially shut down Stafford. And garcon may have turf toe? Yeah Im not buying that this is a juicy matchup

You forgot to mention R. Quinn as well. Yeah, I'm not buying this as a "juicy" matchup. As a matter of fact I think St. L may have the most improved D in the NFL. This isn't anywhere near the same team as last year. They have massive upgrades in talent, as you mentioned. Better yet, Fisher has them playing much more diciplined and better schemes. RG3 looks like a stud so I wouln't advocate not starting him. This isn't the cake-walk matchup that people are making it out to be though.

Garcon has turf toe? Link?

Considering starting over Vick. BAL pass rush looked formidable last night, makes me nervous for Vick's chances of finishing the game.

I'm tempted to start him over Cam. Doubt I will though. The Rams D RG3 will face did very well against Detroit last week. Cam's playing New Orleans who RG3 lit up.

You're right, they did hold Stafford under 400 yards. :P

Garcon is extremely confident he'll play against the Rams in Week 2, but the Redskins are being more cautious. "It's kind of like when you have turf toe, but it's not the toe," is how Shanahan described Garcon's injury. We'll have more info on Garcon as the practice week commences on Wednesday. Garcon was the Redskins' featured receiver all preseason and in Week 1 against the Saints.
Actually Shanny never said it WAS turf toe. He said it's LIKE when you have turf toe except it's not in the toe.

Thanks. What an odd description of his injury. How can it be like turf toe and not involve any toes.

He's starting over Stafford for me this week.
Wow...really? Over stafford? I saw someone else contemplating him over can vs NOS?? The hype is out of control. I mean rgIII is the real deal but you are talking about benching a stud early draft pick for him after 1 nfl game played in his career. Ican understand the dilemmas if your other qb is Vick, Eli, Payton, rivers...

I'm starting him over Vick. Baltimore looked incredibly well put together. Then again, Vick played like ### last week and still got me 27 points. His game performance can be awful, but if he's going to get 50 pass attempts he's still a great fantasy player.

Tentatively starting him over Rivers. The Rams schemed Stafford to death last week, the INT's weren't plays made by the defense as much as it was Stafford misreading the defense. Not meant as a slight to the Rams D, which I expect to be improved, but since it was week 1 in which Fisher had all sorts of time to prepare for his protege I'm more inclined to keep expectations reserved.

My decision to start him over Rivers is more an indictment on the Bolts, that o line is a mess and Rivers looked too much like the 2011 version. Maybe Mathews returning will solidify things, but for now I'm steering clear.

I immediately penciled RGIII in over Schaub and Eli but am debating now. The Rams D held Stafford and Calvin in check until the last drive. Holding those two under 300 and 100 (respectively) for that long is pretty impressive, particularly on the road.

I know, I know. If we just take out that one big play, yada yada. But I saw a fired up Rams team who will be in their home opener and jacked up with a new coach. Ah, I still might start him. Yeah, probably will...

But will the crowd be jacked up or..."we coulda drafted this guy...sigh..." :kicksrock:

I'm shocked people would start him over Stafford and Ryan. I figured QBs like Vick and Eli would be debatable.

Thank You for your voice of reason.

I would start RG3 over anyone except Rodgers. Wait til he really gets going with his rushing.

The Saints were in their first game with a new DC, missing their head coach, who was replaced by the offensive line coach, and missing the LB coach who will be the head coach later in the season, their RDE hadn't been expected to play until 2 days earlier, it was the first game with the team for several defensive players, and were missing by far the best DB on the team

Waiting a week.

Big Ben goes against the jets, so the rookie gets the start for me.

My main concern is that the Rams offense has big issues with their Oline missing two starters already  , so the Redskins shut them down and run all day.

Me too, letting Cutler start this week

Agreed. I see this as being relatively low scoring (less than 40 total points) and with the Rams not exactly a high powered offense, Washington will lean more on their running game.proj. 266 yds passing 2 tds 1 int 36 yds on the ground ... not a bad week but a step down from week 1Just a gut feeling but after starting him last week I will be leaving him on my bench for week 2.

Duh. Chicago's playing GB in a game that everyone correctly expects to be a shootout.

Considering RG3 over Brees. It seems crazy to even have that thought.
I'm considering the same. FBG's early rankings have RGIII a few slots better than Brees.
The last time Brees played against Carolina, he threw for 389 yards and 5 TDs. The time before that, at Carolina, was 359 and 2. The Saints haven't lost to Carolina with Brees playing since 2008, and even in that game he put up over 375 yards and 4 TDs. He just set the record last game for consecutive games with a TD pass, passing Unitas.I wouldn't sit Brees against Carolina this week.

The other side of this coin: the Redskins O-line was overmatched by the Saints d-line most of the game, and Griffin still performed the way he did.

Good article here on how Kyle Shanahan game-planned toward RGIII's strengths, including installing parts of the Baylor offense, and schemed against the Saints D.

This was a great plan for one game, and I like RGIII, but they won't be able to do this in the NFL for long.

That said, I still like this matchup...and I'm a Rams fan.
